Kids booked on to all day holiday course tomorrow, whilst I am work.

DH takes phonecall at five past 6 tonight to be told that the day has been cancelled.

Trying to find alternative childcare for tomorrow, struggling a) not much in this area, and b) of course I'm going to have to book it first thing in the morning as unable to tonight, and have a 9am meeting.

Not only am I cross that it's been canned, not only am I cross that it's been canned at late notice, but they would only let you book via card no other option, and they are returning my payment to me via cheque, so I now have to be out of pocket, paying effectively for two lots of childcare for tomorrow, plus wait for a cheque to clear.

Grrrrrrrrrr!

why is it bad customer service?

sometimes thiings happen at short notice. for all you know the person running it just died or something and they can't get any replacement because it's such short notice!

it's annoying, but it is not bad customer service,

not sure why they can't refund onto your card though, depends how they're set up i think

southeastastra · 27/10/2011 20:05

it's quite bad!

what sort of course was it?

LemonPeel · 27/10/2011 20:07

It is bad that you have not had your refund back to your card.

And damn annoying that you have been told so late in the day.

Hope you find someone for the kids. Or else looks like a sickie for you or dh

Council run holiday club at leisure centre.

If you are running something advertised as working parents, and you phone at 6pm for the following day, is poor notice.

It is bad service if it's a council run holiday club. I thought the whole point of things like that was so that they are more reliable than nanny's or childminders. There should be enough leeway so that if one or two can't come in for some reason, the club can still run.

Unless the entire staff team have come down with some highly infectious disease, yanbu.

At least they told you.
I once took Ds to a holiday event and arrived to find the place (his school) deserted!

southeastastra · 27/10/2011 20:24

does seem very odd to cancel this late, did you child go in the other days?

Wizardsofwaverleyplace · 27/10/2011 20:32

Was booked in on Monday, and attended then.

were they full on monday? assuming that they don't have enough kids to run tomorrow, but seems really bad to let you know so late.

would go in a try to sort out the card issue, that's really unreasonable
