Sorry, just got back from a date, and he bought me flowers. But I don't have a vase. Nor do I know what to do with flowers... Can someone tell me what I do, please? Blush

(I can get a vase in the morning, was just a case of I've never been bought flowers before, so I've never had a vase...)

shove them in the sink in water

Mabelface · 27/10/2011 00:07

What squeaky said

WilsonFrickett · 27/10/2011 00:07

Plug in sink. Water in sink - lukewarm. Turn water off (important) put flowers in.

Tomorrow
Buy vase. Put water in. Snip bottom of stems of flowers (green bits) and add the wee sachet of food to water. Put flowers in vase in pretty configuration. Admire.

(Thanks for my favourite question ever Grin and lucky girl!)

DogsBeastFiend · 27/10/2011 00:09

Cut the stems about an inch from the bottom, diagonally. Pull off all leaves which will be below vase level when you have one so that they don't contaminate the water - makes them last longer.

For tonight just pop them in the sink with water in it. :)

PS - lucky you, I love having flowers bought for me.

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 27/10/2011 00:10

Right, in water... thank you... Can I have a stealth boast about how lovely he is?

Yes, yes you can.

Just this once.

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 27/10/2011 00:12

Hehe! I've just got ini, and I've got the biggest smile on my face. Grin

Seriously, he's funny, and sweet, and we just seemed to connect on so many levels!

I shove my flowers in the nearest pint glass or coffee jar :o

I'm WELL classy

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 27/10/2011 00:57

Grin Sacre, I was going to ask if a sawn off lemonade bottle would do the trick, then figured that might look a bit too... erm... what's the word?

That's perfect lol

I am not exactly domesticated and have no shame in admitting it.

giyadas · 27/10/2011 01:03

lemonade bottle's a good idea, it'd look like student chic.
Glad you had a good night.

SacreLao · 27/10/2011 01:05

Student chic Grin

I am so using that from now on.

Yes mum my curtains are nailed over the window, havn't you heard it's student chic Wink

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 27/10/2011 01:17

Student chic isn't curtains nailed up, it's sheets. Grin

giyadas · 27/10/2011 01:20

once they're nailed up they become curtains Grin
you just have to believe

DontCallMeFrothyDragon · 27/10/2011 01:22

Student chic... I'm a student, it works... Grin

PMSL!

I don't actually have curtains nailed up BTW but according to my mum I have made some HUGE housekeeping mistakes that are just not ladylike etc.

I think it has always broke her heart that I didn't suddenly turn into a 1950's housework on my wedding day Grin

giyadas · 27/10/2011 01:30
Grin reminds me of the last time I got flowers. I just held them akwardly 'til a friend took them off me telling me I was rubbish at being a girl and he was better at it than I was Grin
OldLadyKnowsNothing · 27/10/2011 01:38

I did have sheets nailed up in the first place DH and I bought, and we weren't even students. Then we discovered that we had shutters, stuck with many decades of paint... amazing what you can do with a bit of brute force. Grin
