For thinking I could be pregnant

Please tell me that I am just being silly.

I am on the pill and came to the end of my packet last week.
I then usually get a period 2 days later which lasts about 4-5 days.

Well 2 days came and I had slight period pain but less than normal and then only a tiny amount of bleeding.
Hardly would of been able to tell that I was having a period,

It's never been like this before, but I had bad cold last week do put it down to that.
Could this mean that I need to take a test or am i worrying for nothing?

Which pill are you on? I know with my pill, cerazette, it's possible to not have periods on there. Or are you on the ones where you have a seven day break?

Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 13:41

I am currently on femodene which is similar to marvelon.

Have a seven day break after each pack which gives a period each time

If you are unsure then take a test.

There are many reasons why periods don't come or if they do come, why they might be heavier/lighter than normal. Illness, stress etc can all play a factor in it. But it's also not unheard of to get pregnant whilst on the pill.

aldiwhore · 26/10/2011 13:43

I'm sorry I can't answer you, but I am guessing its possible you could be pregnant and its possible you couldn't be. YANBU for thinking pregnancy is a possibility, even if its a remote one.

I would wait and see, and I'd also probably do a pregnancy test at some point to put your mind at rest either way.

I'm sure other people will be more help but totally understand any panic! Good luck x

gothicangel · 26/10/2011 13:45

if your worried/unsure take a test,

good luck, x

Definitely take a test.

Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 14:22

What symptoms should I be having if I am pregnant?

Aibu? Really? Not conception or pregnancy or chat?

If youre having regular sex of course you could be pregnant.

mrskbpw · 26/10/2011 14:24

I've had this quite a few times over the years. Sometimes I don't get a period at all in my 'time off' the pill. I've never been pregnant those times. I think if you're confident you've taken your pill correctly, it's very, very unlikely that you're pregnant. But if you've got any doubts, then test.

I got pregnant on the new version of Marvelon. Can't remember what it's called, but yep, got me good and proper. As far as we can work out, contrary to new guidelines, it may have been some antibiotics messing with its effectiveness. Have you taken any medication? I only found out after going to the doctor with symptoms of what I thought was an ear infection, basically feeling very queasy and unwell. Having said that, it's not uncommon to not have a bleed on your break. I'd wait a few more days and then test again.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 26/10/2011 14:29

Just googled, new name for Marvelon is Gedarel.

Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 14:31

i havent taken any antibiotics. Only cold and flu tabs, echinacea, vitamin c & ibuprofen.

I only asked on AIBU as what one do you ask this on? Its not a question to ask conception forum, as im not trying to conceive.
I also dont see the point on asking on pregrant forum, as I do not hope to be pregnant right now...

OP posts:
Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 14:34

I have never heard of Gedarel. My docs have just given me a fresh box of Marvelon just last week....

Is the new one meant to be any better?

OP posts:
fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 26/10/2011 14:37

Well, my experience would lead me to say no...Grin I'm sure one is just the generic rather than brand name.

TethHearseEnd · 26/10/2011 14:38

So when are you doing a test?

TethHearseEnd · 26/10/2011 14:39

How is everything now, fuckity? Was watching your thread when you found out...

Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 14:40

dont know :( i guess i will have to pick up a test after work.

oh i dont like doing these

OP posts:
fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 26/10/2011 14:41

I'm great teth :) Have our 20 week scan next Friday and dp and I are blissfully happy :) Didn't seem possible at the time but I think we let fear and shock get the better of us. As anyone would I suppose. But yes, all good in the fuckity household.

Purplebuns · 26/10/2011 14:41

You are going to have to POAS and tell us the result now you do realise?
You can have little to no bleeding as a fluke, but a cheapy test from somewhere would clear up any worries.

Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 14:43

i just don't think its good timing. we are planning a wedding. oh wants to leave his job.
i think we would feel too young for children right now

OP posts:
TethHearseEnd · 26/10/2011 14:47

Good luck Beaver- test just to put your mind at rest.

fuckity, that's fantastic, congratulations Smile

So glad it all came good for you.

StaceymAloneForver · 26/10/2011 14:55

no contraception is 100% if you've had sex you could be pregnant, i fell pregnant with dd at 17 whilst on the pill and using condoms, luck of the draw sometimes

hope it works out for you
