i was hanging the washing out and my 2.5 year old dd came out with me, the children next door were playing out and dd went to the fence to talk to the little boy, he started school in sept so he's 4/5ish?

i heard the boy say,"you do it now" looked up and he had his pants down showing dd his penis, i told him not to do that and took dd inside

when i told his mum she shrugged and said its just what kids do?

dd wasnt bothered, she has an older and younger brother, just wondered if it was nothing? i was expecting the other mum to be a little shocked and i'd probably have been embarrased if one of mine had done it?

Well it might be just what kids do, but they need to be told that it isn't appropriate. If she doesn't tell him this, he will keep doing it. Not fair on him.

I'd probably tell my kid off for doing that, but I think some people seem to think that kind of things is ok... it would annoy me though...

At that age, I wouldn't be worried. He probably knows is rude or "naughty" and therefore hilarious.

Going on a lot of threads I've read on MN, nudity seems to be totally normal in a lot of homes...with quite a few MNetters saying they and their DP's walk around naked or willingly leave the bathroom door open.

Therefore, to this little boy it could be totally normal.

Still, his Mum should have told him it was inappropriate.

I don't think that it is inappropriate for children that age. People need to relax more about nudity, especially let kids enjoy being natural before they get all drawn into the shackles of "polite society".

Yes, it's pretty normal. I'd have tried to sound a bit more apologetic if I'd been his mum and seen you were not pleased but it does happen. Some kids get privacy quicker than others and many find nakedness hilarious and desirable until quite late on.

DS2 stripped off nekkid with a friend in dance class when in reception, strong words were had with me as of course all the little girls were gigling and pointing very demure and upset. His stock went up 1000% with the girls of course, came home the next day complaining they all wanted to kiss him.

When in reception my eldest dd told me she had seen her friends willy at school. When I questioned her as to why he showed her she told me it was because she had showed him her fairy first

I just had a quiet word about privacy, didn't make a big deal out of it, and now she is 9 and way past the flashing age :)

It's just what kids do. Maybe as she was blase about it, he's been doing it for a while and she is ignoring it (in an ignoring "bad" behaviour way)

DS2 (aged 4) current favourite pastime is jumping stark naked on the trampoline.
