This proposed bill will not allow women to have an abortion even if not having one means she dies. The link explains far better than I ever could. I'm stunned that anyone could even contemplate voting in favour of this.

The trouble is that some of the Congressmen who voted for the Bill will be re-elected by majorities so big that many of them must be women. And I fear that some of them are in fact Congresswomen. Explain it if you can - I cannot.

YANBU. I'd like to say it will never happen but who knows? I'm not massively keen on abortion but I do think it should be an option in some circumstances, including when continuing with the pregnancy would put the mother's life or long-term health at risk.

Are there not some countries where a ruptured ectopic pregnancy cannot be legally operated on even though effectively in that situation the foetus has already died.

I personally cannot understand how pro-life can favour letting 2 people die. I mean if not having the abortion will kill the mother surely the foetus will die anyway as of the pregnancy is in early enough stages for an abortion to be carried out then the foetus is not yet viable out of the womb.

Well I know what I mean but I'm getting tired and its not coming out very clearly.

If the mother is going to die, then so will the baby.
At least by terminating you can save one of them.
