to make DS do some work at half term?

DS (14) has half term now and I want him to write brief revision notes on the work he has done in each subject this year. He's digging his heels in of course since he wants to spend all day playing X box. So one subject per day to be done and then X box is reasonable, yes? I guess this would take no more than 1 hour per subject. He has been told he has tests when he goes back to school on all this work!

YANBU. Of course, if you really wanted to make a point, let him set his own schedule of work vs X-box and, when the tests go pear-shaped, you've got more ammo for next time. Sometimes they have to find out the dire consequences of laziness for themselves :)

Ah well this new attack is the result of averagely good results he got in the summer after hardly any work at all :(, according to him he did FINE last time so why should he have to do this stuff this time round?

I think the X-box should be removed for the full half-term if that's his attitude. Life's tough when you're a kid :)

DS is not allowed on anything (computer,iPad etc) until music practice and homework has been done. Loads of rows to begin with, but now he just gets on and does it.

We do live in the sticks though, so this makes it much easier to enforce as he can't just go round to a friends house.
