So I will stop reading and go to sleep!

Yep Yabu.

You're also assuming that mn has all its members in the same timezone Hmm

Just press the x :)

ZacharyQuack · 10/10/2011 01:32

Only if it also closes down overnight in my timezone (1:30pm here)

Homelybird · 10/10/2011 01:35

Oh yes didn't think that through Grin

And I have no will power and will be grumpy on the school run that is not very long away now but for done reason I just keep on browsing!!

No thanks! I'd never get to waste all my time catch up on what is happening!

Not all Mnetters are in the UK!

ChildofIsis · 10/10/2011 01:38

What would all of us non-sleepers do in the early hours?

MN has been my salvation since stbxh walked out a few weeks ago.

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 10/10/2011 01:47

MN does close down for a few minutes at about 3am UK time, for techy updatey reasons, I guess. I know because that's 10am here.

ChildofIsis · 10/10/2011 01:50

Ooh that's a reason for staying up, to see it happen...

I sound like some mad astronomer waiting for a once in a lifetime occurence.

Homelybird · 10/10/2011 01:53

That sounds like something I want to stay up for to

But I am going to switch off my phone and shut my eyes. Fingers crossed I fall asleep

Slightlyreluctantexpat · 10/10/2011 02:03

Don't do it, Childof, you'll be exhausted tomorrow morning and your RL friends will think you are bonkers!

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 10/10/2011 02:15

Hahaha. It's really not very exciting. You type a long, well-reasoned post which sums up the OP's dilemma and presents her with an elegant and simple solution, and then you press 'send' and you get a 'MN is down for backup' message, and then you sit there for fifteen minutes pressing refresh. And by you I mean me. Except for the bit about well-reasoned elegance, obviously.

ChildofIsis · 10/10/2011 02:17

They already know that.
I'm not sleeping well at present and am managing on a few snatched hours here and there. Quite how I'm not sure.

I'm on a day off tomorrow and may even get to go back to bed after xh comes for DD to go to school.
I may indulge myself.

It's quite nice to be up all hours without some grumpy arse telling me it's time I was in bed.

ChildofIsis · 10/10/2011 02:18

Was it as exciting as it sounds Tortoise?

Bearskinwoolies · 10/10/2011 02:22

Yabu - I don't finish work til 2.30am, and when I get home I'm on MN.

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/10/2011 02:44

It is the evening here AND it is Thanksgiving tomorrow so we have the day off.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 10/10/2011 02:59

Possibly I am not explaining this well.

It's a bit like this:

And then it comes back.

Homelybird · 10/10/2011 03:09

I'm still awake but missed the 3 am shutdown (dammit),

My sister has just sent me a step by step video of her completing a 5by5 square rubix cube. Not sure who has the bigger problems me or her Hmm

esselle · 10/10/2011 03:52

Switch off the computer/phone now.

Go and put your pyjamas on.

Brush your teeth.

And go to bed!

Don't forget to set your alarm.

Nighty night!

ZonkedOut · 10/10/2011 04:21

YABU, what else would I do while feeding the baby at night?

I haven't caught the 3am backup for some though. I guess DD's night feed has just got a bit later. But I did wonder if they had stopped doing the shut down thing, sometimes it used to last 20 minutes or so.

Tortoiseonthehalfshell · 10/10/2011 06:06

Actually I wondered that - it's the middle of the day for me, so it caught me every time (I stay logged in at work, keeps me sane during long tedious telephone calls), and I haven't seen it in weeks.

tryingtoleave · 10/10/2011 09:40

Yup, it used to shut down exactly when I sat down with my lunch, having got dd down for a nap. I thought it was a conspiracy against Australians.

MyBrainIsOutOfTune · 10/10/2011 13:05

The 3am (4am where I am) down for backup is usually my signal that I really, really need to go to bed. When even Mumsnet kicks me out.
