To think that DH should know his kids' bithdates?

So he's just asked me to text over their birthdays for the ikea kids club thing as he's got to put their birthdays on the form. He doesn't know - august sometime and he can't remember the year - they are 3 and 5. Ok he does have 3 kids but come on - he has a responsible job too - AIBU to expect him to know this sort of thing!!!

YANBU.

But then, YABU.

It takes me a few beats to remember my childrens' birthdates, each year DH and I double check with each other.

Nothing to get angry about really in the grand scheme of things. I once made my DH 8 years older than he actually is on a form once.

YANBU but I bet it is not uncommon.

My husband could work it out on his own (year is what he would have to work out) but would probably ask me because he knows I could reel it off instantly so easier to ask.

My Dad got mine and my sisters birthdates wrong on our passports. He knew all the important things (what we liked to eat, favourite places to go at weekends, best friend of the week) but often got our names muddled and was hopeless at dates. It was a standing joke - he was a teacher and more often than not got the names of kids in his class wrong first time. When they teased him, he'd say 'Listen, I can't remember my own kids names, what chance do you lot think you've got?' Says nothing about him other than that he's got a crap memory.

Times and weights would be totally beyond him. He just chooses to opt out of this sort of thing - I have to remind him what his godchildren are called FFS. Still after 26 years I doubt he will change. Just think it's a bit crap really - I think he just thinks I'll sort all this sort of stuff

my dh is exactly the same; when pushed he will eventually be able to give the date but he has always been the same; whilst he can remember 101 things at work, football statistics etc dates are a complete mystery

My father has a marvellous post it note next to his desk.

It lists our names (in full), our birthdates and increasingly our driving offences!

Without it he would be lost. I believe he has a similar one in his wallet.

He has been a father to 4 children for more than 30 years yet he still relies on it.

This is not something I would sweat.

Well he ought to write them down somewhere if he can't remember them. He's unreasonable not to do that. I don't think it's unreasonable not to remember birthdays if dates aren't your thing though.

My Dad never remembered our exact birthdays!
For form fillong and such like Im always having to think about their dates and it sometimes takes a second!

As someone who probably never has to write down the date Id expect they might forget. It doesnt bother me to honest.

A lot of men are like this and it's annoying but not the end of the world. I used to work in a job where people had to know their kids' dates of birth and the men invariably had to ask the mother.

Actually in our house it's DP who's the organised one. If it weren't for facebook and moonpig reminders a lot of my friends and family wouldn't get birthday cards.

dh always has to think hard to remember the dc birth dates.

Ah yes, my Dad messed up his Power of Attorney thing by giving the wrong year for mine and my brothers birth. Although to be fair he got the day and the month right, and I didn't really object to being made a year younger

Now me on the other hand, I often recite my own DOB when asked for DD's!

So he can sort out car insurance for the family fleet........
