I understand 40's birthday is the biggest birthday in your life.
What else is a big birthday apart from 40's? Is 60's special too?
What did you and your husband give your or his parents on their 60th?

Why is 40's biggest?
IMO 18 and 60 much bigger!
Agree with cjbartlett about all the important ones.

All of them are milestone birthdays.. I would say 50 is usually celebrated in a bigger way than 40.

My Nan hated decade birthdays being made a huge deal out of. She said it was like saying "oh well done you've survived another 10, not dead yet".

Beyond 21 none of these birthdays are "important" they're just an excuse for a piss up.

I'm 30 on Sunday and consider it an important birthday. To me it marks the point i wanted to be settled in my life and gives me a chance to look back on all that has changed since I was 18. We had a big party for my husbands and my sisters as it was seen as important to mark them BUT seen as I was the one asked to organise the parties it is no surprise to me that I won't be having one!!

We're doing something for my dads 60th next year as we believe it an important one but haven't done much in between those ages.
