DH just phoned to say he will be on tour for an extra week. I know that sounds pathetic but he has been gone for 7 months, I was starting to count the days down and when he told me I just wanted to scream!

Feel bad now though because he could obviously tell I was upset

Sorry, rant over!

Sad for you, how gutting.

Happymm · 23/09/2011 21:00

Ah, poor you. Rant away....just start the countdown again, :(

YANBU if you have date set in our mind for when an absence will be finished then you have to give yourself time to readjust.
You may also have started a chuff chart counting down the days for your DC's which you now have to extend but it is the way your DH makes his living and if he is in the Forces he really has no choice at all.
Scream away into the ether Smile

Just yell baby, yell!

(tour? rock star or squaddie?)

LessonsinL · 23/09/2011 21:03

Music or Army tour?

Either way, that's very frustrating :(

He's in the Marine's so Navy.

I know its not his fault but seriously who does he have to sleep with to come home on time!?

A week is a long time when you would have made plans for his return.I remember doing a Four month tour and hadn't bothered shaving my legs for the whole time (lazy cow) not much point in cold weather it kept me warmSmile shaved them and tidied up the night before my flight only to find out my replacement wasn't on the flight out and had to redo the whole topiary thing again two weeks later Wink Annoying!

DD1 has a school assembly on the 12th that we were so sure he'd be able to go to, she was so looking forward to him being there!

Ahh crap I'm going to cry now...

DD is very sensible though and completely understands what her Dad's job is so she'll be ok! :)

Could you do that thing with the phones have only seen it on an advert so have no idea what it's actually called where you call your DH and he can see the assembly down the phones? Just a thought, it wouldn't be the same as him being there in person, but it might make DD feel better.

MiseryBusiness · 24/09/2011 09:39

Great idea but DH is in a place where they can only use satalite phones. I think they have that kind of thing on the big camps.

Spoke to DD this morning though and she was really sweet about it so I'm feeling much better today :)

YANBU in the slightest. My DH was supposed to come here for the weekend last week. He was unable to. DD was beyond gutted.
He is here now, but going tomorrow Sad. I think I should get them both up, they shouldn't be festering in bed at this time should they?
It is well worth the wait.
