In A&E from 2.52 until gone 7.

I am back to hospital tomorrow for plastic surgeons to decide whether to amputate the top of my finger just below my nail or whether to redress it an let it heal.

The school main door slammed against my finger forcing it against the lock which has sliced a chuck of the fleshy part of my index finger off.

What have you been doing today??

I had a friend working with a lorry who jumped off the back and didn't let go in time and the side of the trailer (somehow) caught the top of his finger and ripped it off in one go. Now he's missing the entire top piece of his finger, from the joint up. Did it quick like, no fuss!

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2011 20:41

this was not that quick!
shame

I hope your finger is better soon.
I too was in hospital. My dad was having an operation to remove the cancer from his prostate. He has been wearing a catheter for a year now so hopefully this will mean the removal of it.
We got to the hospital at 8am and finally left at just after 3. We have paid for 2 carers to sit with him as we are meant to stay and do all the catheter changes and change the bags that are flushing out hos prostate.

I am now at work. From 4 - 11 then back on tomorrow morning. 7 - 3.

picnicbasketcase · 19/09/2011 20:43

Owww bloody hell. Hope you'll be okay OP.

TrillianAstra · 19/09/2011 20:44

I don't know if YABU or YANBU because you have not asked a question about your reasonableness or lack thereof.

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2011 20:45

Hulababy · 19/09/2011 20:49

Ouch!!!

Hope it heals ok.

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2011 20:50

well either it will be amputated just beneath the nail or they will redress it and let it heal.

Border its normally DS2.

If it helps at all, a friend of mine had most of his little finger amputated after breaking it badly.. it healed up in no time at all.

It sounds very painful, and I winced here on your behalf.

borderslass · 19/09/2011 20:52

My nephew [17] lost the tip of his when he was about 3 manages fine winds DD2 up with it.

mumatron · 19/09/2011 20:56

My mum did this, a door slammed on her hand taking the top off her ring and index fingers.

She somehow managed to salvage the tips and part of one and all of the other was sewn back on. She has no proper feeling I'm them and they look awful. She would have preferred them to be amputated properly tbh.

Also, my aunt's dh had his wedding ring finger amputated yest after an accident on his truck.

Hope you aren't in too much pain tles

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2011 20:56

I screamed, cried, panicked, went shaky with shock of the amount of blood, was freexing cold. Then they said they may have tp amputate it and I sobbed

BUT

I am calm now and it could have been worse!

OP posts:
TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2011 20:57

am not in pain atm but am sure it'll kick in

OP posts:
Vallhala · 19/09/2011 21:01

You poor love, I'd have done all the screaming and crying above too, and then some.

I hope that the surgeons can sort it out so it heals without having to do anything else and that that will be the end of your woes.

Thinking of you, take it easy.

Val xx

Still not an AIBU question, if you are unable to do something then that's not reasonable or unreasonable, it's just the way things are.

Try again :o

depob · 19/09/2011 21:17

Use the other fingers

TheLadyEvenstar · 19/09/2011 21:19
