Hi, there is something wrong with my gas meter, my hot water is powered by gas and its just not heating up, ive credited my gas meter and its accepted it, it also says that it is 'ON'. I've just tried phoning e.on, only to find the office closed at 6. I need hot water to both bath my dd and wash her bottles. Can someone help with an out of hours number for them or any advice on how to fix the issue (sticking my card back in and pressing buttons did not help!) Thank you!

Are you sure it's the gas and not the boiler?

Maybe the element's gone on it?

list of nos here

The meter is still showing the same amount it did yesterday....i didn't even think about the boiler...when i put the gas on i think i did it wrong as it didnt make the valve opening noise it is supposed to! I'm new to the gas meter lark so very unfamiliar with the whole thing. Help! :(

For the time being, boil a kettle. :)

Mitmoo · 17/09/2011 19:16

I had something similar, sorry I can't help with your request too. There is a valve that sends the hot water to the rads or just to the taps or to both, and that controls what works. So if heating works but hot water doesn't it could be that but you could have a different system altogether.

So I'll just shut up shall I? Grin

BlueKangaroo22 · 17/09/2011 19:35

yeah squeakytoy i shall do but i also need a long term fix :) lol

Has the boiler flame blown out?

MangoMonster · 17/09/2011 19:47

It's probably the boiler not firing up. Sometimes you have to relight it depending on what kind you have. Do you anyone who knows anything about boilers? Plumbers are expensive.

redlac · 17/09/2011 21:21

Can you check the boiler? Can you see if the pilot light is lit?

BaldricksTurnip · 17/09/2011 21:57

Should have a pilot light refire button, look on front of boiler. Sometimes if you've run out of gas the boiler has a cut out mechanism so you have to manually get the boiler pilot light to go on by pressing the reset button.

BlueKangaroo22 · 17/09/2011 22:35

Yay solved the problem thanks to you guys! Looked at my boiler and there was a light indicating no gas going to it, pressed the reset button and its all sorted now! Silly me eh! Fancy not checking it might have been the boilers fault!
Thanks again
