"they have more important things to do that talk to you" - yes, I thought I had misheard but no, this is what the male owner of the boutique jean shop in Cirencester said to me when I helpfully feedback to him that his 2 downstairs staff were not only talking to each other and not interested in helping me but actually ignoring me completely!! Your views please? Am I being unreasonable in feeling really offended and vindictive now???

Not sure about the relevance of this type's gender, you wouldn't have mentioned his ethnic origin, but apart from that YANBU and I would take my business elsewhere.

Empjusa · 16/09/2011 13:19

YANBU That is awful!

Backtobedlam · 16/09/2011 13:20

YANBU-there's no way I'd be spending my money somewhere where the shop assistants refuse to assist. There's so much choice out there, and in the current economy, you'd think they'd be doing everything they could to gain your business

wineandroses · 16/09/2011 13:22

So the owner isn't bothered if his ignorant staff can't be arsed to serve customers? How peculiar. Perhaps he isn't the owner, so also doesn't care about customers/profits. Or he's sticking up for his useless staff because they're his children...or his girlfriends/boyfriends...? Twats. You'll probably feel less offended when his boutique closes down.

See if you can find them on Google and post a review.

YANBU thats very odd of the owner to think there are more important things for his staff to be doing than serving customers...

CogitoErgoSometimes · 16/09/2011 14:34

I say you out the jeans shop so other people can avoid it!

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 16/09/2011 14:39

Probably shagging one of the assistants, therefore thinking with his penis and not his brain

YANBU. Was he definitely the owner? If not, a letter to the real owner might be a good idea, and then avoid the shop like the plague (after telling everyone you know about the shoddy service). In this economic climate you'd think that businesses would be falling over themselves for custom. Apparently not always.
