Honey I suckle the kids. Saw a bit of it last night. Sh*t all over the floor does not appeal to me?

Confused?

huh?

Was on Sky Living late last night about attachment parenting. Some of it not too bad, women carrying 4 yr old baby in a sling, kids sleeping with parents until they're about 28 (ok not q that old). But then, there was a bit about letting babies go to the loo with no nappies, so they just sh*t and pee all over the place.

Is that not disgusting?

Sounds inflammatory/provocative so why play into the TV producer's hands?

Don't watch.

LeBOF · 13/09/2011 16:20

I believe they must have been referring to Elimination Communication, which is learning your baby's cues to wee and poo, and getting them to the toilet. I presume that this is fairly common in parts of the world where laundry facilities and disposables are rare, and with western parents who are a bit woo. It must work for some people.

Proudnscary · 13/09/2011 16:20

Or are you PR-ing it?

DooinMeCleanin · 13/09/2011 16:20

I share the marital bed. It's not by choice though. Dd2 just gets in halfway through the night. She has recently been replaced by a large, snoring Greyhound. I am not entirely sure how that happened Confused.

The rest of it does not appeal to me, but each to their own I guess. Don't watch it if it annoys you.

Elimination Communication is a proven and very successful technique. There are many cultures that find it bonkers we have 4 year olds not yet potty trained. I have a friend whose 11 month old is dry at nights, and rarely needs a nappy in the day...there is no crap on her floor. I haven't done it myself, but know plenty who have.

Attachment parenting also makes a lot of sense, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, carrying etc is all just an old fashioned, natural way of parenting given a poncey name. 9 months in...9 months out and all that.

If you are going to watch it and form judgements based soley on a trashy TV producer's idea of enteratinment then I suggest doing some independent reseach as well and making your own mind up.

Angel786 · 14/09/2011 00:38

Def not PRing it. As I said, some of it didn't look bad but the following baby cues instead of nappies seemed a step too far for me. I can see the advantages when babies are a bit older but scenes of human excrement on the floor were powerful.

I think it looks interesting...can't watch as I live abroad.

Nothing in the details to make me Shock
