to think this is a revolting term?

I was just talking to a neighbour who informed me her friend has just had a 'blubba bubba'. Meaning a new baby who was 8lb 6oz. Is it me? or is this just an awful thing to call a baby?

I'd probably laugh like 'what?'

'babbi' instead of baby is also a shootable offence

There are worse things a person could say. The spelling of "blubber" offends me more than the expression though I'm flinching at "bubba" too.

If she'd have said "A blubber bubba" I'd have only had one thing to flinch at. :o

Blubba bubba? Could almost understand if the baby was 18lbs!! But 8? That's within normal healthy range isn't it?

The term doesn't offend me but I'd probably judge anyone who used it to be a bit of a knob.

Oh, I thought you meant 'blubba' as in a crying baby. I didn't realise you meant a big baby!

It's a bit vicki pollardish but endearing at the same time Grin

I guess I wouldn't dream of referring to a smaller baby as skinny, so I don't like the blubber terminology, but I'm an ex'fat and sensitive!

My eldest was 7.5lbs, very long, quite skinny (overbaked) and resembled a rubber chicken. My youngest, bang on time, 8.4lbs, short rugby ball squidgy plump thing.

I think its ME who's maybe BU!!! I don't like the term blubba.

There's scope for more variants.... Would a particularly pink, squashy baby be a 'Hubba Bubba'? A baby that doesn't like sailing might be a 'Land-lubber Bubba'... And the baby that falls off the changing mat without injury might be a 'Rubber Bubba'. Wink

I prefer the term chunky monkey for my son who was born 9 lbs 9oz. In fact I call them both that now still, but it's an affectionate term, whereas I'd associate blubber with being more offensive. Dunno why.

DD1 was 9lb 8oz and lovely. Just called her DD1.
DD2 was 8lb 11oz and a chunk. I call her DD2. DP calls her 'Chunk' or 'Tubs'. To be fair you need a map to manoeuvre her rolls and she's now 29lb at 9 months.

Are Chunk and Tubs bad? Wink

My Dad referred once to naked baby DS (who was a podgy little thing) as 'an oven ready turkey'..... and he wasn't that wide of the mark.

That's not particularly big is it? My DD was 10lbs but she's very long as well. Big babies rule.

I'm not a massive fan of Bubba/Bubby etc either.
