8 months after having a LO aibu to throw away any item of clothing I owned before being pregnant and just accept the fact I probably still be in my maternity gear by the time DD decides to fly the nest in 18+ years time. I know I sound shallow so please go easy on me :(. Gonna have a now.

Why? Is there a reason you feel you can't lose it?

8 months is still fairly early...though I wouldn't let much more time pass before tackling it (if you can) because it's amazing how the time flies.

9 months up, 9 months down

I threw out all my size 12 clothes when I "couldn't" lose weight after DS2 was born. after I stopped breastfeeding, I lost a couple of stone without even trying and had no clothes and no money to buy any.

Put them in a bag in the loft - you never know

I had an accident when pregnant and injured my back and havent been very mobile since. It's upsetting because when my DD was firstborn I couldnt go out and show her off because I couldnt move anywhere. Also I used to love the gym, swimming ect but am in absolute agony everytime I try. I am doing physio/oesteopath so hopefully fingers crossed, but until then I'm stuck with this bloody jelly belly :(.

8 months is very early to be throwing away your clothes. You need at least a year for your body to settle down after birth (longer if it was a difficult birth) and then depending on how much weight you put on say 1lb per month as a reasonable weight loss - so 12 months plus 1 month for every lb put on = reasonable amount of time to allow for weightloss based on average birth.

The media coverage of celebrities who are back to pre pregnancy weight at 6 weeks post birth are incrediably misleading for several reasons

1)it is specifically recommended that women wait a hell of a lot longer before even starting a gentle exercise routine (between 8 weeks and 6 months I think depending on type of birth and who you speak to)

2. Having a full time personal trainer and diet coach pays a big part - how many of those women spend several hours a day that they could be spending with their baby in training instead.

3. people whose career relies on their looks also spent an entire pregnancy exercising and being obsessively careful what they ate so they never put on the weight in the first place.

None of this is realistic or desirable (from a medical point of view at least) for anyone.

Eat healthily, go for long walks with the pushchair (or join a buggy walk group), don't beat yourself up.

YADBU - it took my about 17 months to get back into my pre-pregnancy clothes (and even then, I couldn't get into the skinny ones!). Then I got pregnant again so they've all gone back into the loft today!!!

Try not to feel so hopeless about it - I do appreciate your injury must be completely doing your head in though ! Even if it takes a while for you to recover, it sounds like you won't be completely happy until you get there, and with determination, it will happen. Stick them up in the loft/somewhere out of the way, until you feel better and able to start working towards losing it.
