Cat poo

I dont mind the odd cat strolling into our garden but AIBU (I suspect not) to be sick to death of having to clear the cat shit away and for not wanting my kids exposed to it? Don't know who the shitty cat is so cannot talk to any neigbours.

So, before I go online and look for recipies for cat stew, has anyone got any advice on how to keep the buggers out of my garden? Looked for cat repellent spray in Tesco but couldnt find any. Dont need to borrow a lion from somewhere and have him piss around the garden, do I?

Sorry ASByatt Blush.

I can see your point.

Garlic powder - wilkinsons

Dont even bother with the cat owners- nothing they can do and will just sour neighbourhood relations.

PenguinPatter Grin sorry I'm in a pedantic mood today!

As a "9 cats" owner, I feel your pain regarding cat shit in the garden. The little buggers dig up fresh flower beds just after I've dug them and we have all sorts of problems with flower pots. Don't even get me started on my cat who thought it OK to go in a hanging basket...

Anyhoo, I digress...

Water pistols (especially super-soakers) are very effective - if you can catch the cat in the act.

Sonic deterents are also very good and work very effectively.

Please don't use pepper or chilli sprinkled on the ground, as quite apart from the fact you have to frequently replace it, it can cause allergies in the cat and irritate their mucous membranes causing all sorts of problems. I know that you don't want to injure a cat, which is why I say it.

Cat repellent crystals can work - try a product called "Cat-Off" which you should be able to get in pets at home. I've found that it's reasonably good with 8/9 cats not going near it.

Good luck - I do sympathise.

Ahh Quiet you are lovely :) I have honestly never heard a (9!!) cat owner be nice on a 'pissed off with cats' thread :) people are usually defensive and don't seem to care how much it irritates us non vat people! so even though this isn't my thread, thank you!

joric · 28/08/2011 18:28

Cat not vat!

ASByatt · 28/08/2011 18:34

Ah joric, there was me thinking thinking that you'd found out that people suffering from cat poo pestilence didn't have to pay VAt.....
