To not want to work

Whilst my baby is little? Why should I have to miss out on things and have to let someone else look after him whilst I work? What's the point in having children if we can't watch them grow? I would definitely go back to work when baby starts nursey but they grow up so quick I don't want to miss any of it.

Btw I know I abu but I don't care stomps feet

Do what you want mate. Not being U at all as long as you don't castigate those of us who, for whatever reason (career, money, model to DC) did go back to work when children were small. Grin

What an odd question. As long as you can financially support yourself through savings or your child's partner, who elses business is it what you do?

As clary said..........you have to do what you want to do, if there are no financial worries then you don't have to work !
Has been discussed many a time before; but really people have to do what they want with their own lives and not worry about the opinions of others...
Don't want to work = fine!
Want/Have to work =fine!
Everybody has an opinion but its YOUR life do what make you sane/happy Grin

I can't afford it really, living on minimal income so if I want anything I do need to work, just wish I didn't have to. Nothing against ppl who do work at all, I do like working myself

well if you cant afford it then you have to work simple as.

i wanted to stay in bed this morning but i had to get up and get ds ready for creche and go to work myself.

its called being a responsible adult and parent.

I think most of the planet would prefer not to work. Sadly most people dont have a choice if they want a roof over their head and food on teh table.

I'd love to be able to afford not to work too. I'm sure most people would. That's life. Saying "what's the point in having children if we can't watch them grow" is a bit pointless really if you know you can't afford to be a SAHM. You either choose to have children or you don't.

Personally, as much as I love my DCs to bits and love spending time with them, I need to work for my own sanity and adult conversation and use my brain for some thing other than childcare, and to have some meals in peace. I have had a year off maternity leave with my 2nd DC and just gone back to work 3 days a week and I appreciate the time I have with them so much more and I am much less stressed and I have money to spend too!

The answer appears to be "Because you can't afford it"

The point is you can do what you like as long as you don't expect someone else to subsidise your lifestyle choice. I didn't want to miss any of my kids growing up either but then you have to make a choice don't you. You can scrape along on benefits which isn't easy or you can work. We all have a choice to make. You just have to make a choice.

thats my point though ... benefits means that we the working folk will be paying for her "choice" to stay at home with her kids.

anyways it was only a rant from what i understand and not a serious question ( i hope) so will let it be

Why not look into options around working from home or flexible hours or for yourself, then?
