To cry because it's raining?

...and I want to go to the park!

And I can't because it's raining.

I can't see why. I want to go to the park!

I don't want my nappy changed!
I don't want my breakfast!
I don't want my hair brushed!
I won't let her put my dress on!

Mummy says we'll go to the park another day. So why can't I go now?

Now she's ignoring me. Just because I screamed. And flung myself on the floor. And grizzled.

It's not fair!

I WANT TO GO TO THE PARK!!!

A bit of rain never killed anyone.. tell your Mummy to put her coat on and stop being a wuss! Grin

jenrendo · 25/08/2011 09:54

Put a jacket on and take her! No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes........:o

OddBoots · 25/08/2011 09:55

Waterproofs and wellies but pack some suncream, it's the only way in this fickle-weathered country.

GypsyMoth · 25/08/2011 09:56

Nobody has ever dissolved in the rain, just go!

Sn0wflake · 25/08/2011 09:57

I love rainy day walks too - when else can you jump in puddles and the smell is divine!

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 25/08/2011 09:57

Its not raining here Tanith, come and distract play with my DS so I can do some valuable MNing housework
Grin

RustyBear · 25/08/2011 10:00

Depends where you live really - there are weather warnings for some parts today because of exceptionally heavy rain - don't think I'd take a young child out in those circumstances.

Tanith · 25/08/2011 10:07

Now I'm feeling guilty!

It really is chucking it down outside. I'm torn between just taking her for a quiet life (she's 2) or holding firm and not giving into tantrums.

Oh dear! Mummy has dug herself into another hole!

Responses are cheering me up after DD's meltdown earlier, though Grin

Hello!!! It's a bit of rain! And RustyBear - this is the UK and it may surprise you to know that Hurricane Irene is not about to make landfall here. Not today anyway.

Tanith · 25/08/2011 10:08

Michael Fish, anyone? Grin

Let her out in the garden with waterproofs and wellies?

Go to the bloody park Grin

You're not made of sugar, are you? Grin

Honestly. Wrap up well, wear wellies and have a splashing good time!

My children love being out in the pouring rain.

RustyBear · 25/08/2011 10:15

chumlee - actually weather warnings are given for a reason, and for wetaher that doesn't actually constitute a hurricane, so your sarcasm is a little ridiculous.

worraliberty · 25/08/2011 10:19

I've just walked to the shop and back

I'm wet but I'm alive Shock Grin

ihatecbeebies · 25/08/2011 10:19

Tale her to the park with wellies and raincoats, it's only a bit of rain it's not exactly a hurricane. Smile

ghostofstalbans · 25/08/2011 10:19

just to put another point of view out there, it's actually thundering and lightening here and that can cause injury Grin

ihatecbeebies · 25/08/2011 10:19

*take

usualsuspect · 25/08/2011 10:24

The park in the rain is bloody awful ,I wouldn't go

wahwahwah · 25/08/2011 10:26

Is this you or the baby complaining? I grew up in Scotland - a bit of rain is nothing!

Renaissance227 · 25/08/2011 10:27

Don't be a spoil sport Mummy!
Wellies and a waterproof. Go and have some fun splashing in puddles!!!
Rainy days can be just as much fun as sunny ones! Grin

IgnoringTheChildren · 25/08/2011 10:39

I don't think you should go back on your decision after she's had a tantrum (I know at 2 years old, a tantrums is more about being unable to manage her emotions than trying to manipulate you but children quickly learn what works!)

Find something distracting and fun to do indoors instead and take her to the park later if the weather improves. :)

ghostofstalbans · 25/08/2011 10:41

our park in the rain gets all slippy with the amount of dog poo

BlueKangaroo22 · 25/08/2011 10:44

no rain here, bright sunshine but it does look a tad breezy lol

mumnotmachine · 25/08/2011 10:52

Wellies and rainmacs were invented for a reason....
Go!
Splash!!
And you wont have to wait to go on anything in the park!

Its only water- it dries.
