It was a poster complaining that their DH was using cotton buds to itch his arse, and then leaving them lying around the house in a sort of brownish state.

It was quite funny. As a general-purpose MN voyeur I'm a bit if it was a troll but also relieved to know that there isn't some random woman out there whose itchy-arsed DH is quite that disgusting.

Was that person who shat themselves in the train station a troll? Didn't they have people offering to take them clothes? Hahaha

Her DH had an itchy 'shit hole' and was relieving his itch by poking cotton buds up there and then leaving them about the house.

SDTG, IIRC, suggested smearing the cotton buds with Deep Heat as a deterrent.

I'm only just recovering from clicking on that thread - oh how I wished I hadn't.

ABF - the cotton bud thread in a nutshell:

OP's husband has an itchy anus, which he scratches using cotton buds. He leaves said cotton buds on the side of the bath, on the carpet by the bed and on the OP's dressing table.

Everyone tells the OP that this is disgusting and he needs to see a doctor, but the OP says he is too embarrassed. People suggest various solutions, myself among them - mine was a dab of deep heat on every cotton bud in the house - which is why I am now an Evil Genius.

I put them in my ears, which I know you're not supposed to do. But it's never in a zillion years occurred to me to put one anywhere near my chocolate starfish.

Poster with policeman boyfriend arresting her cousin was advised to get thread deleted as discussing issue with entire Internet was unlikely to put boyfriend in a better mood with her. I don't know if that's why it's gone.

The train station one was good for a while, but then lots of MNers rallied around to help the OP, who had had a solid matter accident in Victoria Station. One MNers' sister worked at the station and went looking for the OP with a change of clothes. Obv there was no OP and the nice lady with the change of clothes got in trouble with her work for leaving her post, I think.

I reported the policeman thread as it did seem a bit iffy to me and MNHQ said they were investigating it. I don't know exactly what conclusion they came too... either way, the thread needed to go.
