OP posts:

Remembering summers past and being a teen.

I should make it clear that I definitely wasn't a teen when that track was released, but it reminds me of those years.

I love threads like this because I will see someone who lists a lot of songs I know and like, and also something I havent heard before... so I can go search it out and find something new to listen to.

Meatloaf - Blind as a bat
The Eagles - wasted time
Motley Crue - without you

Thank you, MissPenteuth for 'The Girl and the Robot', I love Royksopp, the last song of theirs I downloaded was 'Happy Up There', but love this one too.

I'm not good at links but I'm currently listening to Sam Phillips, 'If I could write', it's a beautiful song. Also Freshlyground's 'I'd Like'.

I've put this thread on watch now as there are some fab songs on it and my download list is now huge. Where does everybody download from? I'm using Amazon at the moment.

Red2011 · 22/08/2011 16:26

shudders as hates the killers, and scouting for girls<

We have various 'drive' music that gets put on in the car when we're going on holiday - Eels, Screamin Jay Hawkins, Elbow, Marilyn Manson, Queens of the Stone Age, Snow Patrol, Dandy Warhols*, Kula Shaker....and lots of bellydance/bhangra too.

*They have a song called "Every day should be a holiday" - even better!

MardyBra · 22/08/2011 16:57

YABU. Put it in Chat or Music and I'll let you know.

BupcakesandCunting · 22/08/2011 16:59

Nazi Punks Fuck Off - Dead Kennedys.

youarekidding · 22/08/2011 17:07

lovecat · 22/08/2011 17:19

My fave faves are all slowish songs, but if you want something livelier for driving, my recommendations for upbeat stuff are:

You Disappear From View - The Teardrop Explodes (I challenge anyone to be sad while listening to this song!)
Pounding - Doves
Hold Back The Rain - Duran Duran
October Swimmer - JJ72
World Leader Pretend - REM
Dazzle - Souxie & The Banshees
Heartbeat - Psychedelic Furs
Don't Let me down (Gently) - The Wonderstuff (12" is best!)
Open Up - Leftfield
Little Fluffy Clouds - the Orb (for driving with the roof down)
No Memory - Scarlet Fantastic
The Cutter - Echo & The Bunnymen

Actually, Red2011 has reminded me, a really good one for driving through eerie, still forests is by the Dandy Warhols - Sleep. It really matches the landscape, iyswim. But not if you're easily freaked and it's late at night!
