Can this be a coincidence?

Is this a coincidence? You do the math. I?m a computer science major so hear me out. Every time Mumsnet is shut down there seems to be some really weird posts that both appear and disappear! And then the situation stabilises.

Doing a quick search on Google on any of the words or even phrases in these posts will give you thousands of results.

So this is what I?ve been thinking with frankly, frightening repercussions. I think these posts are nothing more than complex AI (which is a computer science acronym for Artificial Intelligence) that most likely takes all of the power of the main server to compile. That is why these posts are so weird. No one even writes them! They are the product of autonomous code. If this post gets deleted then you know why!

OP posts:

Is this some kind of conspiracy theory thing? What weird posts have you noticed?

stripeybump · 21/08/2011 00:27

Also, if you're a CS major, have you not heard of spambots? That's what you're describing.

ChippingIn · 21/08/2011 00:28

Is it possible to post that in English?

Solo · 21/08/2011 00:29

Repeats what ChippingIn said.

Eh, conspiracy theories much OP ??

A huge forum like MN would need regular housekeeping, it's totally normal.

TheCompanyofWolefs · 21/08/2011 00:35

golly.

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 21/08/2011 00:36

Come again?

Salmotrutta · 21/08/2011 00:36

It's elves.

Are you Fahrenheit under a name change by any chance................. ?

DontGoCurly · 21/08/2011 00:38

OP

Salmotrutta · 21/08/2011 00:39

Actually I think you hail from the US of A - see the use of "Math" and "major".....................

Salmotrutta · 21/08/2011 00:40

Grin - you're probably right DontGoCurly!

CocktailMumma · 21/08/2011 00:42

erm??? Confused

Wondering if I am thick or its time for my bed?

I'll stop bluffing - am thick!! Dont get what you're on about really at all.

Should we be worried?

AgentZigzag · 21/08/2011 00:44

If you think this will get deleted, are you subtly trying to tell us you're an AI?

MumblingRagDoll · 21/08/2011 00:46

Huh? What's an AI?

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 21/08/2011 00:46

Umm, is (what's he called-the oddball?) really a robot?

GypsyMoth · 21/08/2011 00:46

I remember last December mumsnet went offline..... Then magically, when it came back, there was a SNOWMAN on the logo! Was a scary moment!

And once, the logo was red!

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 21/08/2011 00:47

or an alien?

Salmotrutta · 21/08/2011 00:49

Do you mean Gabby/robin/somethingelseI'veforgotten?

Or that mad Fahrenheit from last weekend?

heheh no I don't think we should be worried.

As much as I'd like to blame some MN posts on machines I think the more likely explanation is a much higher footfall of traffic, hither-to-fore many more trolls.

Thusly, much more work for the Admins to do rather than sinister censorship!!!
Obviously !? GrinHmm

BodyofChristLegsofTinaTurner · 21/08/2011 00:58

Oh yes, Gabby is most definetly A.I. (but in all seriousness, I think Gabby is an older, possibly retired man. I presume English is not his first language either).

He never posts past an acceptable senior bedtime, i.e. nineish, and knows a lot about daytime t.v.

LoopyLoopsTootyFroots · 21/08/2011 01:18

Ah yes, Gabby.

Salmotrutta · 21/08/2011 01:39

Before I takes meself off to Bedfordshire there is something you have all missed...........

The OP's name is an anagram of:

I wanna!

So what, indeed, does he/she want?

Just think about that Gentle Reader...............
