to be trying to find some temp work?

Also posted on the work boards.
I'm 5 months pregnant and hoping to find a couple of months temp work in an office.
Am I out of my mind to think that anyone will employ me?

They're not allowed to discriminate against you because you're pregnant: go for it!

yaimee · 18/08/2011 08:56

I know, but not sure it works like that in reality :)
Am off on a hunt today though, so fingers crossed!

Are you using an agency?

Good luck with your job hunt! Smile

I signed up with a temp agency at 4 months pregnant a few years ago. I didn't tell them I was pregnant, and when I got to 8 months I just gave my week's notice.

Are you showing quite obviously?

yaimee · 18/08/2011 09:35

Yeah, am a member of a couple, but haven't used them for a while as I've been working in a pub for a bit, but it's becoming more difficult to cope with the work there, so I'm looking for something else for a while.
Am going to go into the ones I'm already a member of and try to join a couple of new ones too.

I'm not sure, I was a large curvaceous lady anyway, so I'm kind of hoping that people might just assume that I'm fat!
Good to hear that other people have done similar things though, makes me feel like I might have a chance of getting something!

Sign up with various agencies, there is loads of temp work out there which will be ideal for you.

Temp work is probably ideal in your situation. employers will know that you are not looking for permanent work and will be happy to only do a few weeks/months.

I found some at 20 weeks with first DC - both employment agency and employer were aware I was pregnant - never a problem. Ended up working till 39 weeks.

That work and previous job meant I got the state maternity benefit - can't remember what it is called - which was some money and very useful.
