What happened there?

whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:28

oops

usualsuspect · 17/08/2011 21:28

What did I miss?

gapants · 17/08/2011 21:28

It did, I think because it had a pejorative term in the title. i think, but I dunno.

Pandemoniaa · 17/08/2011 21:29

I suspect it might have a lot to do with a word in the title.

gapants · 17/08/2011 21:29

I had just popped in a rennie to abate my heartburn in rediness for some crisps and a good old bun fight.

whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:29

didn't realsie it was that bad.

PizzaEmpress · 17/08/2011 21:29

I didn't realise that it's a racist term. To whom does it refer? Serious question.

gapants · 17/08/2011 21:30

If one was being derogatory about say the traveller community then they might wish to use that term. For example.

PizzaEmpress · 17/08/2011 21:30

I felt sorry for the OP, but don't understand why she had a problem with people taking things from her skip. Presumably that's stuff that she no longer wants anyway. Better to be used by someone than ending up in landfill.

whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:31

they can take it but it's in my garden right in front of longe window

PizzaEmpress · 17/08/2011 21:31

Ah, thanks gapants.

whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:32

lounge

LemonDifficult · 17/08/2011 21:32

WMS - have you brought the swift wrath of MN with your insinuation that your bath might have been nicked?

Is someone offended that you didn't imply that said bath had simply been borrowed by a local enthusiast, only to be re-enameled, have claw-feet added, and be returned to sit proudly in a room decorated in F&B's 'Divine Drab'.

OP posts:
LineRunner · 17/08/2011 21:33

The words were 'thieving p scum' and the OP further went on to refer to 'travelling' people lest we be in any doubt.

worraliberty · 17/08/2011 21:34

No Lemon I think it was quite clearly the racist title that brought about the 'wrath'

LemonDifficult · 17/08/2011 21:34

Ach well, you were getting an YANBU from me. And I had just typed that out at length too. Babies and renovation: bummer of a stress mix.

OP posts:
LineRunner · 17/08/2011 21:34

Anyway, I was asking what the police said when you reported it and gave a description, whatsmyshib.

whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:34

Sorry, it shan't happen again.

worraliberty · 17/08/2011 21:35

And I was warming through some M&S nibbles...

acatcalledfelix · 17/08/2011 21:36

So THATS why I couldn't post, thought my laptop had gone funny! Oh well I'm pleased that the title was seen as unacceptable and racist, good old MN.

gapants · 17/08/2011 21:38

lemon no, it was the term the OP used to describe the person who took the bath.

Honestly, I hate the p word, but more so I hate the word scum. It is so hateful.

OP- shame on you, but if you are so sure of who took your stuff, surely the police will be able to retrieve it. If nothing else you have insurance. It must have been horrible for a stranger to walk into your home.

whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:38

Had no bathroom for 3 months and no electric for 1 month, most of plaster off the walls, front of building falling off and a leaky roof. Just about made important parts livable before ds arrived.
didn't bother with police as I'm paranoid and figure nothing would be done. I know I'm an idiot blah blah blah.

LemonDifficult · 17/08/2011 21:40

Hate the word 'scum'? There's a whole thread in that, right there. We could refer to it as the s-word. (Although that might be taken.)

OP posts:
whatsmyshibboleth · 17/08/2011 21:42

neighbour witnessed bath removal so nothing I could do, friend found man in the garden and electrician got rid of man in hall way and this was how they described them.

LineRunner · 17/08/2011 21:46

whatsmyshibboleth, If you couldn't be responsible enough to tell the police about the incidents that have caused you such angst (and to use such unacceptable language), then my sympathy wanes.
