OK, so I'm sitting on the sofa happily MN-ing to take my mind off the really rather unpleasant period I'm having and...

I have a hot flush!

I don't mind having signs of menopause, really I don't. I'm 43 but I've had my kids and am really not fussed. But can't these bloody hormones at least wait their turn to inflict their misery on me? Have had several more hot flushes at work too.

Do you all think I deserve Wine as compensation?

Without a doubt but experience tells me that wine makes it worse! Sorry. :(

pointythings · 09/08/2011 21:27

Drat. Does chocolate make it worse too?

Well it may make the flush worse, but you don't care. And chocolate and wine together will take your mind right off your flush!

ImperialBlether · 09/08/2011 21:47

You won't care, I mean.

shakey1500 · 09/08/2011 22:01

YANBU, I'm off to the GP next week as I'm in the same boat. It's bloody annoying. And I haven't got any wine

pointythings · 09/08/2011 22:09

You guys are making me feel a lot better. And for some reason alcohol seems to help with the period pain so boo sucks to the flush. Alcohol, chocolate and ice cubes here I come!

I am in the same boat too. I have just started getting hot flushes and thought well that it folks. Now I am having a period from hell and I am wishing the hot flushes would come back! And regretabbly wine does make the hot flushes worse.

hester · 09/08/2011 22:10

Ah. Last week, for the first time, I had a couple of incidents in which I suddenly got boiing, bright red in the face, and started sweating profusely. I mean an embarrassing amount - a woman nearby asked if I was ok.

I am normally someone who doesn't sweat. To the extent of it being a problem, in that I overheat and feel ill because I'm not cooling down through sweating.

This is a hot flush, isn't it? I'm in my late 40s, so not a shock...

shakey1500 · 09/08/2011 22:14

Anybody find that they feel like they're coming on for about 2weeks before as opposed to a couple of days before i turned into an old hag meno symptoms?

lubeybooby · 09/08/2011 22:20

Oh no! I have hot flushes when I drink red wine - I'm only 31... is it wine or hormone related? Eeeek!

and OP... YANBU!

hester · 10/08/2011 13:25

I expect that's just a redwine flush, lubey Wink

Rowgtfc72 · 10/08/2011 18:58

Oh god, shakey, dont tell me thats a sympton !

Hellishday · 10/08/2011 18:59

I am on HRT which has made my life bearable again.

pointythings · 10/08/2011 19:27

Hellish I'd consider HRT when things get much worse, but we're not there yet. I'm just feeling p*ssed off because for some reason I've lately begun to have more hot flushes when I'm on my period - when I'm not, I don't even have them every day.

And don't even get me started on how my cycle has shortened, like I need more periods!!!
