I've just had a complaint about my dog barking in the back garden. Not from my neighbours, who all have dogs themselves and don't mind the occasional woof, but from the builders working on the extension next door. They want to sit and have their sandwiches in peace. These are the same builders who've been hammering and sawing since 6.30am every day for over a week now.

My dog is only an occasional woofer, the other doesn't. The bubble machine (with bacon flavour bubbles) does however send them into a complete woofing frenzy. This in turn causes all the others to join in for massive woofing jamboree. (There's a pack of 8 in the garden behind the one the builders are in).

I am being unreasonable or am I being extremely unreasonable?

If you were causing a 'woofing frenzy' deliberately I would go nuts at you. I hate dogs continuously barking.

However, the noisy builders are being a little precious to complain.

I think you are also being U for having a bacon flavoured bubble machine for your dogs. That is just too weird.

It occurs to me that your bubble machine could do your neighbours a service - the builders may opt to work through lunch and finish the job quicker

I hate incessant barking too. I particularly hate the chorus that seems to spring up at 7pm every night when my boy is trying to get to sleep. I wouldn't be happy if you had encouraged them.

But the builders don't have any right to complain.

Quenelle keep in mind that I live on the outskirts of a little village in the arse end of nowhere, in a detached house with only 5 neighbours who would hear so much as a whisper from my house. One of them works away for 3 weeks at a time (house empty), 3 have dogs themselves (including a pack of 8 that are completely mad) and the 5th has a garden full of chickens that makes more noise than all the dogs put together. The only people who would be disturbed by the woofathon would be the cheeky builders who were lounging on my neighbours decking.

Speaking as someone who has had effing noisy builders on the house next door plus the house over the road from non-stop from 7am and all through the last 4 weekends... PLEASE TURN THE BUBBLE MACHINE ON

I don't think we have the 8am law here. When I had my bathroom done they turned up at 7am every day.

I had never heard of them I wonder if they work for cats too?

I never thought of trying it with the cat before. I've just taken it into the attic where she lives, she didn't look too impressed. I'll try again later when she's not pretending to be a stuffed toy.

Tell them the dogs aren't quite certain what to make of the blissful silence that results when they stop work.

YABVVU . Those poor builders can't hear themselves think, let alone hear their wolf whistles at the "totty" in the gardens of the detached houses next to where they are working!!

:o The only 'totty' they'd see would be an occasional stray moose. I'm going outside to take a picture to show how barking they are. I think, they think they're on holiday, enjoying a hot summer's day in the countryside.

Done, although somehow I've managed to cut off the side of the picture. The offending builders are working on the neighbours on the opposite side of the road. The dog pack and the chickens are further up behind the trees. I included a picture of the offensive woofer so you can see how disturbing he is.

Oh and cats don't like bacon bubbles coz the bubble machine noise it too scary. (Now cat hates me)
