I just need some quick advice re the mini-pill and wondered if anyone could help. Hence a quick post in aibu...

Basically I am on the mini-pill and have always taken it between 7pm and 7am. However as I have forgotten on a couple of occasions I want to now change the time to between 7am and 7pm. Can I just do this and use extra contraception for a week or is it not that straight-forward? Cant find any info on this on the net.

Thanks.

I think it is straight-forward: just take it earlier, but not later to change your times.

The time is important because the mini-pill doesn't stay in your system long, so if you leave too long between taking your pill it becomes ineffective.

Can't you just gradually take it earlier each day until the time is where you want it?

Thanks for your post ShellyBoobs. Hmmm I thought about that but realised it might be quite a long-winded process and I wouldnt ever really be sure if I was covered or not.

Which one are you on? Cerazette? That has a 12 hour window in which you can take it.

So for eg you take it tomorrow at 1900. Then Tuesday at 0700. Then you can take it at 0700 each day.

Or you could take it at 2200 on Sunday, then 1800 on Monday, then 1200 Tuesday and 0900 Wednesday etc.

Yeah its Cerazette Sidge... So if I go for your first option do you think extra protection is needed over the next week? (not that I'm a shag-monster or anything! just dont want to chance it)

No as long as you're within 12 hours you don't need extra precautions.

If you go over 12 hours or miss a pill you need to use something/abstain for 2 days.

Lovely, thanks, sorry for what was officially the most boring post on AIBU of the day!
