The whole point of a plastic petrol can is to keep a little bit of spare petrol in in case you break down?? FiL said it's dangerous and combustible (surely so is the petrol in the tank?!) and the point of the can is to carry to the petrol station if you break down. Why would I do that when I could just buy an empty container at the station?

AIBU? We got stranded on the motorway oncecwhen DH didn't fill up the car. Not good times dressed in heels etc for a wedding.

FiL is right :)

LoveBeingAtHomeOnMyOwn · 29/07/2011 14:49

Sorry agree fil is right.

VelvetSnow · 29/07/2011 14:51

FIL is correct.

Keep an empty container in the car and walk with it to the petrol station to fill up.

Not all petrol stations have containers in stock

Thumbwitch · 29/07/2011 14:54

Yep, sorry, FIL is right. I wouldn't want a plastic can of petrol in the boot of my car. But I have an empty can in there for emergencies.

Shock wow, my dad always keeps a bit of petrol in it too. Will give FiL the dirty one back and buy a nice clean empty one then Grin
