AIBU to think this is mad when on holiday with a 2 and 4 year old?? Safety wise I think it would be really dangerous.

DH thinks its well worth the extra £600 for 2 weeks, as it will mean lots of shade and in effect our own pool area.

AIBU to think it will mean constant worry, wet floors and will be unused as the children will want to be off with all the other children??

Sure, but this is a bedroom with a doorway then about a 2m area before a step down into a pool.

Beware of older kids (9-10 yo, say) playing 'chase' or other games around the pool. They make a lot of happy noises, shouting and laughing, may also stray into your terrace/steps area. It's a swimming pool, it's what kids do around pools. It's like having a plaground right outside your window

You have to be twitchy and watchful while by the pool anyway - you need a room you can come back to which you know is safe so you can relax. I wouldn't do it. If you paid me £600, possibly, but I certainly wouldn't someone else £600 for the priviledge.

I wouldnt even consider it with a 2 and 4 year old and we do all sorts of silly stuff with our kids like taking them away sailing. You wouldnt have an un fenced pool in your garden at that age. You will have a much less stressful holiday without it and be £600 better off!!

I couldn't do it. It's a recipe for disaster.

Will you be allowed to book that room with young children? Check the booking conditions - when we were looking for holidays last year one hotel had a no under-12s rule for swim up rooms, and holiday villas over water.

If there is a 'balcony' sort of area where you can sit on a lounger and watch them whilst they splash then I might book it, but I wouldn't pay an extra 600 quid for the privilege!

Hi, our daughter is 14 months old and we've just come back from holiday where we had a swim up room. It was a God send! The patio door had an additional half glass door section at the bottom so you could have the patio door open without little ones being able to get out.

The patio outside was quite large with a table and chairs and two loungers on it. We spent our mornings at one of the big pools and during my daughters afternoon nap, we lounged by our own pool.

After her nap, she went for a swim in our pool. No sloppy floors (just took the big bath towels out with us). I think it depends on the hotel but in our case it was well worth the extra money.

Many tour operators won't let you book one of these if you have anyone under 16 in your party

Personally I think it would be stressful! But then being near a pool with kids that age is stressfulfull stop imho!

I wouldn't do it, my dc's are the same age. Sounds like a guaranteed, stress-filled holiday. With kids that young you always have to be on your guard but adding to pool into the mix is just making life hard for yourself.

You will have to watch them every second. I'd hate it.

I certainly don't think it's worth £600 to be constantly on your guard, no.

And here's another question, will your DH be the one constantly having to hover and jump up and to run after the kids, if you do get this room?

Or will he be telling you to chill out, you're on holiday, relax!

Anyway, £600 is more than some families pay for a week away in a caravan. What's the point in spending it on closer access to a pool? It can't be that far to walk from the hotel room can it?

Eeeek, sounds like the holiday from hell. And not just because of safety concerns ... but the bloody noise and lack of privacy! Awful!
