Am I unreasonable being super annoyed with noisy neighbours who watch eastenders everyday with the volume on max (like on a home theatre speaker system) and all their windows open? So all the neighbourhood must listen as well? And the fact that their kids are out banging a basketball against a backboard most afternoons which results in my baby waking up from his naps and not going back to sleep? Shutting the windows doesn't help as the vents in out walls transfer directly all the noise from their garden into the bedroom.

Oh Lord, poor you, OP. that is just dreadful.
Can you make a complaint - if it's that loud, you could maybe get some joy out of the local council? You have my sympathies, more than I can express...

I haven't mentioned it. I suppose the loud volume with the eastenders warrants a complaint or a neighbourly word, but how to do you ask them to stop letting their kids play in their garden?

Both those sound normal everyday noises, not that I'm saying you're being unreasonable wanting them to tone it down.

Sometimes when I go upstairs I realise how loud the telly can echo outside the room, and we honestly don't think it's loud when we're sat watching it. But it's near the windows so I try to keep the volume downish and close the windows later on at night.

Bouncing a basketball is OK, but if it's waking your baby up it must be like the drip of water torture.

Why do you feel you can't talk to them about it? I'm presuming you haven't else you'd have put it in the OP.

You don't have to ask them to stop what they're doing, but you could ask them to limit it.

Like letting them know when your baby normally sleeps and asking if it'd be possible for them to STFU keep it quieter at those times?

So do they watch EE all day everyday or just the times when it's on?

Yabu about the basketball, your baby will need to learn to sleep through day time noise.

Not sure if you're unreasonable about the tv, it's quite early so I'd just put my tv on or music so I couldn't hear it.

you may be able to ask about turning tv down a bit with being unreasonable but you cant expect her children to only plai in there own garden when your baby is awake that would be unreasonable

We had a neighbour whose son used to throw a basketball against a backboard every bloody evening. All I could ever think was "This too will pass", and it did, he grew up, they moved. Tis annoying but not sure you can realistically stop them doing it.

The loud telly - you could try asking them to close the windows, but I bet it won't go down too well.

YANBU mine seem to think that it's ok to crank their telly up to max but only at set times of the day, between 11pm and 3am. I have to get up at 6 for work and am a permanent zombie.

I have spoken to my neighbours and it made the situation worse so wouldn't necessarily advise you do this unless you feel it will have a positive effect.
