She is 7.

Bren laid on sofa all day after she woke up crying and complaining of a really sore throat and headache. She even fell asleep late morning, had a bit if a temp and didn't even play with my friends baby when they came round.

Then, about 4pm ish, her friends rang the doorbell for her to play out, I said she was poorly so wouldn't be out.

DD then said she felt better and started crying when I said she still couldn't go out.

AIBU?

It's never BU to refuse to believe these miraculous recoveries. If she's so poorly that she had to lie on the sofa all day then clearly, she's too ill to be out playing with friends.

No, don't suppose I did need to ask really but she's stropping and trying to do the guilt trip thing. Not off school, as they broke up Friday.

I would probably let her out for half an hour just to get some fresh air. Sometimes when I am ill and have been crashed out all day I perk up a bit later in the day. I don't think ywbu to keep her in though.

Let her strop and do the guilt trip. It'll be a good experience to learn that no means no.

She's 7 and quite old enough to understand why she can't go out. Still, if she's recovered enough to start laying guilt trips on you and "stropping" then invite her to do something more constructive. Help you get the tea, perhaps?
