To leave it? (empty sweet box purchased)

I bought my fave sweets, 2 boxes. They used to be "cigarette" sweets but are now candy sticks in the blue box if you know them. Bought 2 boxes with a load of other shopping.

Got home and putting things away, found one of the boxes is empty. I can only imagine some sneaky kid has pulled a fast one in the shop.

I cba to go back to claim a full box...waste of money if I chalk it experience or go and get my sweeties??

If its a supermarket I'd get on the phone to them and let them know - usually they will give you your money back and replace them.

Doesn't make up for the lack of sweets now though I suppose - Sorry!

Can happen in the manufacturing process too. Do they have a customer care number/e-mail? I'd get on to them that way.

I think you should just cut your losses, and check next time you purchase to avoid the disappointment.

Reminds me of when my brother found an empty wrapper in a selection box (sealed, but only with fresh air!). I returned the unopened wrapper to Cadbury's and composed a silly letter outlining his sheer disappointment, and never in his 20 years had he been subject to such cruelty when trying to fulfill his sweet tooth's needs.

I was shocked when a week later, my DB got a parcel from Cadbury's with a letter of apology and a box of Milk Tray . I had expected them to laugh at the letter then send me an equally silly letter in return!

BTW, the little f**ker ate the lot and gave me none!

That was 10 years ago - doubt it would happen now!

I once bought a box of six jam tarts but when I opened them there were only five. I sent a letter to the manufacturers (that well known chap who makes exceedingly good cakes) and asked them if they could look around for my missing cake. Instead they sent me a postal order worth about four times what the original box of tarts cost.

Had the same happen with a very expensive digital home pregnancy test. Some sneaky swine, I'm assuming a daft teenager who didn't realise/care that she could get them for free from the family planning clinic, swiped it and kindly returned the empty box to the shelf. Sadly that time the shop were having none of it and claimed I was trying to pull a fast one. Oh well, I've learnt to give boxes a good old rattle to make sure they contain something in future!

my son had the same thing with a funny looking sweet he sent it off saying they were his fav and he was really looking forward to eating it but it was a funny colour, included it in the letter and was send a parcel full of sweets and told to enjoy those and sorry the other one was a funny colour!

I did this with a double pack of jaffa cakes - there was only one packet in the box. Emailed mcVities and they sent me £4 in vouchers! Don't bother with the shop, write to the manufacturer (or email as it costs you nothing).

I had a tin of tomatoes with no tomatoes, just juice! I emailed the company and they sent me an envelope stuffed with money-off coupons. If I had wanted to live on nothing but tinned tomatoes for a year I'd have been made up! As it was, we got a cupboard full of them and I had to come up with inventive ways of shoving them in every meal.

Definitely would second emailing the manufacturer - DP complained about chocolate deficient chocolate biscuits and was sent a £5 voucher. Would also go back to shop and point out that they need to keep an eye on their sweetie shelves though, if some enterprising person is pinching stuff and putting back empty packets.
