WIBU to accept eBay offer

just sold an item on eBay - payment not yet received - and I
receive an email from not the winning bidder offering £15 more than the final price. Says that she was bidding and her computer crashed. Tempted by greed but am I correct in thinking that I wouldn't be able to accept this, even if I wanted to?

YWBU - someone else won the auction, and you have an obligation to them!

The email sounds a bit suspect anyway - a bit too good to be true

Don't accept, it's an offer outside the ebay rules and should be reported. If you accept it and she screws you over payment wise you will not be covered by any of ebay's payment protection things.

accept it, just make sure you get a cleared cheque/postal order and NOT paypal!

Don't accept it, you have to do the decent thing as a seller. Another person won the auction, so you should honour your contract with them. As well as what Trina has said.

I'd email them back saying something along the lines of 'obviously I cannot accept your offer but if the winning bidder doesn't pay within 7 days (or whatever the terms of your auction are) I will be in touch and give you first refusal on a buy it now'.

Ebay should automatically offer second chance to buy to the second highest bidder - is the extra £15 being offered by that person do you know?

Oh and the other thing to consider is that if you cancel the auction at this stage (and you would be able to along the lines of 'item lost / damaged' or however ebay word it, the winning bidder can still leave you feedback.

Trina that is just not true. If the winning bidder doesn't pay the seller can offer a second chance offer to whoever they like, whether that is the second highest bidder or anyone else, but ebay cannot make any second chance offers off their own bat like you suggest.

Don't accept it. Even if you do get paid and it's not a scam what are you going to say to the real winner? How would you feel if someone did that to you ... Are you really so skint you're going to fuck someone over for a poxy £15? Sheesh.

if i won an item and then the package was not delivered to me, i would do a negitive feedback.

op don't do it, the winner won fair and square.
