To think seagulls are giant rats with wings

exept worse, rats dont shite on your washing, attack you from above and steal your barbecue food out of your hands, even worse at this time of year when their babies have hatched, i know they are just protecting their young but FFS i cant even let my poor dog out the back garden, its a quivering wreck, as soon as it goes out they pounce, and the council cant do anything because they are protected species, they hunt in packs round here, ive seen mothers running down the street with their prams to get away from them.

I oppose anti-gull prejudice! They're just making their way in the world like everyone else, survival of the fittest and all that!

It's we humans who live unreasonably, not the gulls.

YANBU, went to Newquay Zoo recently and at the picnic area there were children feeding gulls, until their gormless parents realised that was why they, and everyone around them, were being dive bombed. They have a huge wing span, huge beaks -horrible en masse. Pigeons too. Apparently they taste of fish, otherwise...

A seagull tried to attack my dog around this time last year in a very built up/traffic-heavy area, and it was f*ing terrifying (luckily some kind security guards let us hide in their building whilst said crazy seagull with its 4'-ish wing span and hideous 4" beak swooped around outside screaming for a few minutes). I dread to think what would have happened if we'd had tp stay on the street.

I was anti-gull until last Monday
We have a couple of ravens that live in the pine trees out in the front yard, who had babies this spring. The 'babies' are almost full grown, and are learning to hunt. Three ravens caught a gull, two holding it down, while the other pecked it to death. It was horrible. They were cawing really loudly, the gull was screeching, and it went on for almost an hour. Then they ate it

im all for living in harmony with nature but even as i type this i can hear a gang of then screeching loudly swooping all over the street and kids screaming ( but to be honest i think the older kids are winding them up ) ah well i suppose it goes with the territory living right next to the sea, i cant even feed the garden birds cuz the seagulls bully them and steal all the food.
Goodynuff thats horrible, i dont like them but i wouldnt like to see that.

YANBU I can't cope with the jackdaws , wood pigeons and starlings in our garden.. Loads of them. Even my mum, who loves birds and brought me up to spot and feed lovely robins, blue tits and the like in the garden sympathises. 3 of the most horrid birds in huge numbers and no lovely little tweety ones... :(

I think seagulls are beuatiful. Bad manners and common as muck bu beautiful with it.

This seagull thing is to do with the amount of food that gets chucked out, isn't it? And seeing what's happened with the burgeoning population of urban foxes (often mangy, unhealthy, die slow deaths having been hit by cars...), things can't be looking that good for seagulls, surely?

DBF - I know, I know! Horrid, horrid, horrid thing, it was!

I saw one peck at a boy's eyes on the beach in Hastings years ago. He had chips and was running at them, to be slightly fair, but still, 3 of them attacking him was a very scary sight.

Shortly after a man went around shooting at them with a shotgun (again in Hastings) and I think was arrested

I also remember hearing on the radio that the head honcho who studies them said they are getting increasingly aggressive and people are being attacked more frequently. He urged for a funded study as he forsaw huge problems...never heard of him again. Seagull conspiracy? Maybe...

Didn't help when I was being followed by a giant specimen yesterday. Had to stop at the traffic lights waiting to cross and he kept sneaking up behind me. Size of a pug dog, so you get the fear. I had to keep turning around and stomping my foot to keep him a meter away . Ran away as fast as I could when the green man came up, I'm ashamed to admit!

You don't get them as much in other countries because they are better at clearing up rubbish and just generally less grubby.

I hate them.

YANBU, they are. All birds are flying rats.

Abra In Brisbane they have Ibis which are their version. Much uglier. At least ours look slightly cuddlier.
