I asked her on monday just gone if she could have ds over night tonight. She said yes and i asked again this morning if it was still ok (she has a habit of forgetting such things and she'd forgotten again but stilk said it is ok).

So at 4pm i get a call asking if i am still going out as dad has suggested they go out for dinber. I said i was and then she said."ok well i'll change our plans and stsy in then. I will sacrifice our evening for you."

Aibu to think that her plans have not changed and actually the plan has been to haveds tonight?!

She always pulls this martyr act if i ask. Not demand - i always ask her to babysit. Not frequently either!! Apology for awful grammar, am on phone

YANBU, she had plenty of notice and let you down, end of

Sparkletastic · 24/06/2011 16:57

YANBU - you double-checked, she agreed both times, and I assume she and your dad can go out tomorrow instead. Shame she sees it as doing you such a massive favour.

YADNBU, but she is.

MollyMurphy · 24/06/2011 17:11

YANBU and I would have been tempted to tell her that if she was too put out to do it then not to bother. How obnoxious.

JanMorrow · 24/06/2011 17:26

YANBU as you had checked several times with her! She's obviously just enjoying guilt tripping you and wants to let you know how wonderful she is sacrificing her plans..

It's a shame she see's it like that. I am very careful to not see my parents as free childcare but they LOVE having my daughter and would are usually delighted to have her (probably because I don't leave her with them every day or anything) and if anything make me feel guilty for NOT leaving her with them more often.
