He's come in from work, eaten his dinner, gone out for a fag and is now lying on the sofa staring at the fucking idiot box and completely ignoring DS who is 2.7 and has been very trying to my 35 week pregnant hormonal self all day.

AIBU if I start throwing really heavy things at his head? Or alternatively just shoot him? At the moment I am being very passive/aggresive and its annoying me.

take his tonsils out... it hurts really really bad (im day 6 post op) it is worse than death.

At the risk of being shot down in flames he's entitled to some down time too!

Saying that though, go for a walk or a drive. Leave him to it with little person, he'll soon have to interact with him!

I always found the electric trip switch (the one that covered the TV) to be my friend in similar situations, "Oh dear, must be a power cut, never mind, you can read DC's a story/Bath DC's".

Have you considered mentioning to him that DD is doing your head in and he needs to look after her while you have a bath?

Disembowelling works too, I grant you, but think of the mess, and the paperwork.

How about you ask him to sort out the child as you are shattered?

Hiding although I would normally agree with DH needing down time, he is a gamekeeper and I happen to know that he spends most of the day driving round at the moment, shooting the occasional thing and having a lovely time!

Set some ground rules (i hate that phrase!) in that you're in late stages of pregnancy and with a toddler need some 'me' time (another phrase i hate!) so could he do the bedtime routine.

Repeat after me: "Darling, I'm so glad you're home and it doesn't look like you're busy. I'm just off to see [insert name of nice friend who always has cakes in her house] / have a bath / go for a walk. You'll put DS to bed won't you? Thank you darling"

Clutch large protruberance and say 'I'm sure it's only Braxton-Hicks but best if I put my feet up', plonk self on sofa and say 'could you please make me a cup of tea' (or beverage of your choice), followed by 'could you please bathe ds/put ds to bed/cook dinner/do ironing etc/etc until it's your bedtime.

Repeat nightly and your dh should be trained by the time 2nd dc arrives.

Ah, the talking thing...its a good point. Maybe I should stop assuming that he should just help without being asked! But he has just taken DS off for his bath. Even if he is now shouting for me to take them a towel.

I'm with KatieScarlett on this ( insimilar situation our router has mysteriously 'gone down' when He has been on 'puter instead of interractign with the DC

It is fine he is shouting for a towel as he can't leave the baby in the bath.

Some times these threads can go really bad. I much prefer it when they go like this. Suggestions of how to do the deed as well as reasoned advice on how to talk to said spouse to prevent murder.

Yanbu. Faking the start of labour should focus his mind. Make sure you are ensconced on the sofa before deciding its a false alarm.
