To be seriously p'd off with Royal Mail

Got home today to find a plastic packet around one of my letters.
It says
"our sincere apologies. We are very sorry that this item has reached you in this condition.
If anything is missing or the contents are damaged you can report this"

IF something is missing?

it's an empty fucking envelope!

I have no idea what was in it or who it was from or what the fuck it was.

What exactly it was supposed to be.

Quite what i am supposed to claim i don't know. It could have have been a bill or front row tickets to the concert of my life.

Have you got the phone number to call them tomorrow?

Are there any postmarks on the envelope or any other identifying marks?

Were you expecting tickets for the front row of the concert of your life?

Is it an envelope with a window? If so, chances are it was a bill. Or a court summons, which is what I came home to find on my doormat today Sad

They did this to me once, an order from Waterstones which came in those odd cardboard wraps they use that aren't sealed at the end but glued so tightly that nothing can come out.

Except that it did come apart with my order and the evil being postwoman who was delivering to us at the time "didn't notice" it was empty, even though all she actually delivered was a long, open, flat piece of cardboard no longer sealed and containing nothing.

At least I knew who it was from and Waterstones were good enough to replace the missing books. Good luck finding out what yours was.

no it is just a hand written brown envelope.
No sender details or anything.

the stamp has "west midlands mail centre" on it.

I have no idea why anyone from the west midlands would be mailing me.
it is more annoying trying to work out what it is than if they had just binned it and i had been none the wiser.

The number on it is no good as I need to have the senders details to make a complaint and they need to have proof of postage.
I don't even know who the poster is let alone their details.

I don't think so.
It is driving me mad trying to figure it out. I am comparing the handwriting to old envelopes to see if i can find a match.

knowing my luck i will eventually find out after months of hunting and it will be something so incredibly boring i will wish i hadn't bothered.

Or it would have been something life altering and i will never know.

I once got one of those "parcel at the post office" cards on my birthday. I dashed out excitedly to get there before it closed to receive...a washing machine dosing ball that I had requested a couple of months previously.

I sold something on Ebay recently and Royal Mail damaged it. They are refusing to compensate on the grounds that the recipient hadn't kept all the original packaging. How the heck they damaged it (it was a heavy duty chrome towel rail) short of running it over I've got no idea but short of encasing it in concrete I couldn't have done any more to protect it. So I'm now stuck with a useless towel rail and £15 down cos of the postage. B**tards!!

My in-laws also got a plastic wrapper with the apology and an empty envelope. They knew it was from DS1 though as they recognised the writing. I don't know what he had put in it though.

I need to get in touch with Royal Mail today myself. Postman decided instead of just bobbing a card through the door he'd lob our parcel over the back wall & leave it to get rained on.

I'm going to ask them if it had occurred to him that it might rain or does he think he has the ability to predict the weather. The box was from amazon & contained meals for my son (he has asd & this is all he'll eat) but luckily due to amazons shit hot box packing theyre ok. I'd have happily gone to pick them up, I dont understand how he thought he was helping.

Don't be p'd off with Royal Mail, be p'd off with those awful courier companies some firms use who deliver when you're out, try to deliver again when you're still out and then insist you need to drive to the "local" depot which is over an hour away to collect your parcel and won't deliver to an alternative address because you're not their client.

I once got a card from my Granny which had been slit open at the top and sellotaped back down again. I later learned it was supposed to have £20 in it which was missing. Thieving bastards!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me, about 3 years ago...I still don't know what was in that envelope originally.

Dp (we are a bit complicated, sort of split up but trying to work thinhgs through if that makes sense) found a ring in a local shop. Nothing overly expensive but very similar to one that cost thousands that i had seen and loved. He bought it and posted it whilst pretending to go to the toilet.
It was supposed to be a nice surprise.

He bunged it in an envelope and posted it quickly so didn't get a chance to get proof of postage.

My kids have both had birthday money robbed whilst it was in transit with Royal Mail. The thieving bastards.

aww mamaz0n. the bastards in the sorting office probably tell it was a ring by feel and thought they'd nab it. so sorry. that was a lovely thing for DP to do though. and at least you know he did it. i believe in fate and think, if it didn't come to you, it wasn't meant for you. maybe the ring has a curse or something on it and the person who has it now will get arthritus it their finger. Grin

That's a shame about your ring Mamazon - if it was just a ring in an envelope I can see how it might have torn its way out.

Ho iv just googled my weird empty letter and your story popped up.did you ever find out who it was from.iv just got the same a clear plastic bag from royal mail with a envelope inside not even sealed saying our apologies but I havent a clue what it was supposed to be.it has an return address which I'd not far from me.It even says it's from best price goods.i havent ordered anything and I but suspicious of it.any ideas
