AIBU to think NM mods are nothing more than bullies?

We are a large foster family. Living here at the moment are myself, OH, two daughters, one teen garandaughter and 2 teenage FC. We have today been kicked off NM because there is more than one username connected to our laptop.

I have e mailed and asked them if the NM rules state that only one person per household are allowed to have a NM membership. I have explained that there are 6 people in this house that use NM and that with each teen FC placed there may be another member logging in. They have not replied.

I have also told them that we are members of MN - a forum where we are all welcome to post.

Maybe they are being *itchy. ('in' joke for anyone who has looked at Netmums!)

corsa100 · 05/06/2011 16:36

I e mailed them over a week ago. I will e mail again. They all have their own e mail addresses. It is not as if they are all logged onto one e address. If that was the case I can understand the reason for banning ie trolling.

Lola. I have 2 foster teens - only one of whom is expecting. The toddler belongs to my grandaughter (She is 22 btw). She does not normally live here but is staying for a while due to marriage problem.

Mrs Devere. Yes I agree. Although it is more the meet ups and local boards they are more interested in. FD likes the interaction with other young (ish) first mums to be, especially in a RL world where people tend to judge her rather than advise.

So you've got 2 teenage mums and you're sending them to NM because its swearing that you're worried about - I think that ship has sailed.....

thefirstMrsDeVere · 05/06/2011 17:28

Joking aside I think NM can be better for teenage mums. Particularly those in 'difficult' circumstances. Never mind the swearing, I think they would be intimidated by some of the stuff that goes on on MN. I say that as a huge fan of MN. Grin

There is a far bit of benefit type bashing on NM but also an awful lot of very young mums/single mums/mums who have been in care.

Tying myself in knots here - I know there are posters in those catagories on MN too. I have just noticed more on NM.

QuintessentialOldMoo · 05/06/2011 17:32

Why do teenagers need netmums accounts?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 05/06/2011 17:35

Because they are mothers.

GetOrf · 05/06/2011 17:40

I think that there are a few teenager mothers on MN, but I think that NM would appeal more to a teen as the local bits on there seem a lot better.

Mind you the few threads I have read on NM have been shocking in their stupidity of advice, they would get FAR better advice here.

I wouldn't worry about teen mums seeing fuck and bugger, that is the least of it imo.

See if they can come on here and start a teen mums thread?

BitOfFun · 05/06/2011 17:43

I don't really care, sorry. why do we have to have all these netmum threads?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 05/06/2011 18:04

Because we like them Grin

usualsuspect · 05/06/2011 18:10

I don't like them

Its all a bit daft

montmartre · 05/06/2011 19:34

Bruffin- not sure that's strictly true... I can think of several pairs of parents that MN with their own accounts from the same household.
I don't think they had to contact MNHQ first to set up a 2nd user, though perhaps that's because they've been here a long time?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 05/06/2011 20:19

Yes they are. But they are popular.

I think they can be interesting but usually descend into madness fairly quickly.
I am a long term member of both NM & MN. Both have their good bits and both have their bad bits.

I suspect that a lot more people use both than admit it. Which makes the whole MN V NM thing a bit pointless.

Wont stop the threads though Grin

I am involved with another web forum. We often boot people out for spamming/advertising, less often for bad language and abusive posts, sometimes trolls and sometimes people who like to give incorrect, dangerous or illegal advice.

Quite often the people we have booted out come back with a different user name. When this is detected we boot out the other user name as well.

I have no way of knowing if one or more of the people using your computer did anything that might have resulted in them being given the boot.
