AIBU In thinking that someone may remember this children's book?

At my primary school I read a childrens book which was already old fashioned then (30 years ago) I have forgotten the title but would love to read it again. The plot involved 3 animals, a caravan and when when one of the characters died he became a star. Does anyone have any idea of the title of this book ?
