To expect DH to throw away empty loo rolls...

and shower gel bottles, and crisp packets, and anything else that's empty!? I stopped throwing the loo rolls away just to see and it got to the point where they were rolling off the side - think there were about 8!

Is it just like this in our house?

Dh never puts the loo rolls in the bin.

and everyone else has a habit Hmm of leave a minuscule amount of butter/jam/milk/juice so they don't have to throw the container away.

Nope, its not just your house.

DH never throws away his empty shower gel bottles, loo rolls, empty toothpaste tubes, or even get a new ones, he will keep squeezing until I can't and then I get a new one.

Pisses me right off how I am constantly picking up after myself, 2 children and another adult as well.

Yanbu, but far too hopeful!

My dh comes in from work and takes his socks off, then throws them anywhere and everywhere. I find random socks in all manner of places.

I really don't understand. You have finished using it so throw it away - easy!!! Maybe they have selective sight and literally can't see these empty things?

Its a real 'man thing'.

REAL MEN.......don't eat salads ........don't see empty containers.......put said empty containers back in the fridge if standing in the kitchen.

I went absolutely ape-shit last weekend because of the amount of clearing up I had to do for everyone else, including loo rolls and shower gel bottles.

Why is it necessary to ask if anyone has any washing? If I'm sorting washing you would think it would be forthcoming wouldn't you?

If you hear the hoover, then, guess what? I'm hoovering! So get all the XXXXXXX crap off your bedroom floor!

Aaaaaaaaaaaagh. Need a lie down again now......

Same here. Empty fecking containers put back in cupboard/fridge. Empty loo roll centres lined up on the shelf.

Had a new man thing the other day though. He was going to the supermarket to get a couple of things I had forgotten as we had people coming for dinner. I gave him a couple of bags to take, and he refused! So, real men not only do not eat salad, but they can't take their own bags to the supermarket either Confused.

Greenone I too recently did a small experiment like you and let the loo rolls pile up.

When I brought it to his attention, he thought I was collecting them upstairs for some random reason. Oh, come on?!!

It depends - do you mean throw away as in put in the bin, which if you have one in your bathroom is clearly very easy to do and anyone who can't cope with doing it is a useless, lazy arse.

Or do you mean put in the recycling? Both my DH and I are guilty of leaving toilet roll tubes on the cistern until there are so many that they fall off (or DS1 finds them and decides he's going to make a really long telescope with them) as there's really no point in making a trip to our garage (where we put cardboard for recycling) for just the one empty loo roll, right? Wink

eta and it would extra be nice if DH's everywhere could learn how to recycle rather than just chucking everything in the 1 bin then wondering why it's overflowing a week before collection!

I once also did the thing with the loo rolls to see how long it would take for someone else to throw them away, they don't even notice a bathroom strewn with loo rolls. Ex husband , when changing a blown lightbulb always always used to leave the dead lightbulb on the nearest surface to the light, every last time, for years. Confused And why don't they straighten the towel when they've used it instead of just leaving it scrunched over the towel rail like something in a jumble sale?

Yes we do have a bin in the bathroom! Thing is....funnily enough...no one but me ever empties that either! Don't get me started on recycling!!!!! He puts the bins out and you would think he would be happier if they were lighter but no....

This is us - I have just put 10 loo rolls into the recycling - seems easier to leave a few to mount up!! and likewise the shampoo,shower gel bottles. I normally do a thorough emptying of the bathroom the day before recycling collected

I also have a bathroom bin. I don't think DH has ever onced used it or emptied it. I try leaving things to see how long it will be but I can't stand it as I know for a fact it will never be picked up.

I asked DH about the toilet rolls once, he said they are for recycling! Why are they still in the fucking bathroom then.

Grrrrrrrrrrr. I'm all riled up now.

DH doesn't change finished loo rolls ( he makes sure he leaves the one or maybe two squares of paper which are stuck onto the roll at the end so he can correctly say that he didn't finish the roll) so he never has the opportunity to move the finished tube.

He also hates recycling and would rather just bin things. The other day I put a plastic tub in the sink to be rinsed out. He picked it up and asked me what I was doing with it, I told him and when I didn't see it in the sink later I assumed he had washed it and put it in the recycling. Nope, found it in the bin later. Apparently it was too much effort to swill some water round it and put it on the drainer.

This morning I came down and found a milk bottle on the counter. With milk in it, just not enough milk to justify the effort to put it back in the fridge apparently. So it was sitting there gently turning to yoghurt basking in the sun. It is now washed and in the recycling.

I wouldn't go so far as to suggest this is an across the board male thing but a lot of my friends partners ignore these things safe in the knowledge that we are in the background sorting these things out for them --bastards-.

I am so tempted to leave them all until there are enough to make a robot. Then I would leave it sitting on the loo.

Nup mine doesn't either. His mother just drips about "oh you'll never get him to do THAT"... wanna bet I berluddy won't?!

It's the fact that with where our spare loo rolls are kept, and where the bathroom bin is - you don't even need to leave the comfort of the bog seat to perform the changeover manouver.
