I ask that question knowing that a lot of Eassex people disliked it.

"Not like us" They say. Well, it was popular.

I never watched it but my friend did. Did it not say some scenes were made up for entertainment value?

NettoSuperstar · 23/05/2011 15:56

Some scenes are set up, but it's not (apparently) scripted.

I love TOWIE.

FabbyChic · 23/05/2011 15:58

Never watched it an I'm from Essex lived there for 39 years.

sausagesandmarmelade · 23/05/2011 16:02

I loved it....was compelling viewing.

Good for them I say!

NettoSuperstar · 23/05/2011 16:03

Oh itsa my favourite show. I adore Joey Essex, he's reemGrin

ScousyFogarty · 23/05/2011 16:15

Chinny, calm down, a sense of proportion is a wonderful thing.

I watched a bit of ""Essex" and was not sure what the format was. It looked classy. But was it Doc, acting or totally scripted?

It was successful. And no fret. Every series that was ever made has people saying we are"not like that."

They could make a series about Mumsnetters. Call it "mumsnetters Straight From Your Heart."

I live in Essex (but I'm not a native) and no, its nothing like my life.

I pisses me off a bit because it reinforces so many stereotypes. But I think it's quite amusing
