who buys my stuff off ebay,
when im putting the address on the parcel i type it into google street map to see where they live and what kind of house they have, not in a judgey way just pure noseyness, my mate came in this morning when i was doing it and was horrified and said that she would hate someone doing it to her and that i was spying on people Confused its not as though i was hiding in their bushes with binoculars and a night vision camera but she went on and on about it, AIBU to do this ? am i just some sort of weirdo, does anyone else do it ?

Not sure I'd do it, mainly because I don't really care.

bupcakesandcunting · 23/05/2011 15:18

I don't do it but only because I've never thought of it...

ThisIsMySobriquet · 23/05/2011 15:18

Get a life, seriously.

dealer · 23/05/2011 15:19

I'm a courier, and when I get a pick-up going to an interesting sounding address, I often google it.

So yes, you're a weirdo, like meeeee!!

youmeatsix · 23/05/2011 15:19

ermmmmm, cant really see any point to doing it as it only give you a rough approimation of their house, but if it makes you happy......

FabbyChic · 23/05/2011 15:19

I think it is pretty sad and you must have a really sad existence to even do this!

Thingumy · 23/05/2011 15:20

' not in a judgey way' - bollocks

What do you expect to find? A chavvy council house?

doley · 23/05/2011 15:21

Were you very attached to those things ?

Did you want to make sure they have gone to a 'good' home ?Wink

bittersweetvictory · 23/05/2011 15:22

Well obviousy not as sad as yours fabbychick who seems to spend 24/7 on here, every thread on every topic has a comment from you.

I 'google street mapped' the fit bloke from work when something passed over my desk with his address on. I do realise this makes me sound a bit stalker-ish.

coccyx · 23/05/2011 15:23

haha, nosey mare, you have too much time on your hands

bupcakesandcunting · 23/05/2011 15:24

YABU. Christ it's all I can do to be arsed to put it in a jiffy and send it them.

I do feel an abiding affection for the people who buy my tat stuff though.

DesperateHousewife21 · 23/05/2011 15:27

YANBU I love looking at houses, I live in a block of 4 flats on a fairly new estate so it doesnt show my exact one which I quite like.

I dont think its fair saying 'you've got too much time on your hands' its not like you're spending all day every day doing it.

Gster · 23/05/2011 15:28

I've used it to check out rental properties and the area. very useful.

bittersweetvictory · 23/05/2011 15:31

I only do it when im doing my ebay stuff, 2 seconds to copy and paste address into google street view, im on the comp anyway so i dont see how its taking up any time.

Thingumy · 23/05/2011 15:32

I'll have to remember that next time I sell some Boden Peacocks clothes

I'll use google street map to see if the buyers live in a suitable house for receivership of my used things tat.

Firawla · 23/05/2011 15:33

Ive never thought of doing it, but would not care if someone does it who sells something to me.
Like Gster said I just use it to check properties to rent, and then trying to find what stuff is nearby to there etc
