JeelyPiece · 23/05/2011 13:31

Are your DC undernourished, illiterate ungodly types? Does she have a point?

diddl · 23/05/2011 13:32

What might she be trying to tell you?

Difficult without knowing their ages tbh.

Orangeflower7 · 23/05/2011 13:33

Orangeflower7 · 23/05/2011 13:36

No she doesn't Jeely! I make a great effort with the little ones food morals education etc so don't know why :-(

But, maybe she sees me as a drunken silly teenager still...think she can't accept me as a mum. wonder if that's common.

CareyFakes · 23/05/2011 13:37

Jesus told alot of stories didn't he? Bet it's a big book

They are a bit shite as presents go but they are 'thoughts' I guess Hmm

Orangeflower7 · 23/05/2011 13:38

They are 6 and 2

so it wasnt a gift for an occasion, just a gift as in things she picked up for them?
in that case yabu and ungrateful.

JeelyPiece · 23/05/2011 13:39

only joking.

Jesus stories not a good method of moral education anyway IMO!

shortround · 23/05/2011 13:42

My mother in law used to buy mine bible stories, she also bought us a bible as she said every home should have one (we do actually have one, my confirmation bible but its put away)

she was here one weekend and asked our middle child where had mummy put all the bible stories she had bought, as she was going to read to them, and middle child said,

'oh mummy had a clear out and threw all the rubbish books away'!

she doesnt buy them anymore!

beldaran81 · 23/05/2011 13:44

Nick Butterworth does the Percy Parkkeeper stories, Jesus or not his books are quite nice kids books, if you're not into religion they're just a nice story book surely?

TattyDevine · 23/05/2011 13:45

Stories Jesus told (other than "I'm the son of God" Grin

AlistairSim · 23/05/2011 13:48

Yes, yes, tatty and the "You should have seen the size of the fish..." one.

duckdodgers · 23/05/2011 13:51

This sounds like my MIL (who I love dearly) but its a standing joke with me and DH about her presents. We alway are grateful for anythign though. Smile

A few that stick in my mind was 1 Christmas she gave DS1 a little wooden boat with the label - not suitable for the under 3s, he was 2 at the time. And then when he was older - verccua socks for his birthday once. Grin

messylittlemonkey · 23/05/2011 13:54

My PILs see our two DDs every few weeks and always bring them some item of tat from Tesco - like we don't have enough plastic in the house already. I don't know why they feel the need to bring gifts every time they visit, but they do. Don't know why it makes me so irritable, but it does!

Orangeflower7 · 23/05/2011 14:30

It's the presents with a message thing which winds me up. In the past she has send them a toy but with a clipping about red wine in the bottom for me (horrible daily mail type thing about how it leads to dementia or something...and remembered we had a bottle last time we saw her and she disapproved)!
