I'm 23 weeks pregnant and wondering when the 'amazing' skin and hair fairy visits...cos she sure hasn't been to my house. I do suffer with iffy skin at the best of times, but am i being unrealistic in thinking that she always pays women a visit during pregnancy?

TheGrumpalo · 20/05/2011 08:34

Sorry but she didn't visit me, either time!

Beepazoid · 20/05/2011 08:43

Sad But thank you for your response, TheGrumpalo...it just really gets me down sometimes.

I had a visit from the amazing skin and hair fairy both times, from quite early in the pregnancy (and she hung around for a bit after the babies were born too!) I was less happy about the fact she also brought her friends the morning all-day sickness pixie, heart burn goblin and generally-feeling-crappy elf who also hung around until the babies arrived. If I'm ever crazy enough to do it again I will be moving and not leaving a forwarding address in the hope of avoiding them all! Grin

I was visited by the amazing skin and hair fairy whilst I was pregnant but I don't think she arrived until I was about 16 or 18 weeks. Unfortunately her sister the hair loss fairy turned up about 3 months after I had dd and I did fear I may go bald! However she hung around for a couple of months and then moved on and you would never know she'd been (dd is 7 months now)! I was also visited by the heart burn goblin and the swollen feet sprite; the latter left me looking and feeling like Bilbo Baggins. Yuck!!

LordOfTheFlies · 20/05/2011 09:16

PMSL at these posts, not helped by the arrival of the Dodgy Bladder Control Witch who chose to grace with her prescence.
I had lovely skin and so much of it with the bump, now look like a bucketful of tripe has been dumped on my stomach.
Got to keep the thicker hair even now -yah- and the boobs.Must do something about the jellybelly-just lazybuggeritus on my part.Blush

thelittlefriend · 20/05/2011 09:21

LordOfTheFlies I love your "bucketful of tripe" description of your stomach! (only because it sounds just like mine x)

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 20/05/2011 09:57

Grin "bucketful of tripe" - likewise here!!

I never got "wonderful" skin, but my psoriasis did clear up completely. It is now back with a vengeance. :(

spidookly · 20/05/2011 10:02

The piles pixie liked me so much she still visits occasionally.

I never meant her to feel so welcome.

LillyTheMinx · 20/05/2011 10:04

I had a visit from the hair and skin fairy and they hung around for a few months afterwards. Unfortunately the flatulence goblin was present for the duration of the pregnancy. I was very pleased to see the back of him.

allsquareknickersnofurcoat · 20/05/2011 10:04

spid shes visiting me now, I swear when she leaves she never gets any further than the end of the drive before turning round and coming back!

She didnt visit at all in pregnancy, turned up after labour

DontCallMePeanut · 20/05/2011 10:06

I had the amazing skin fairy, but had the pleasure of losing hair like there was no tomorrow... Not what you want at the best of times, and most certainly not when you have trichotillomania.

Add to that I got back pains so bad I could not sit still...

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 20/05/2011 10:09

My skin and hair fairy is a bit confused. She did give me that lovely glow type thing in the face, but she keeps pulling handfuls of hair out of my head and putting it on my stomach. Can't wait for her to bugger off when LO is born so that I can stop clogging up the bath plug every time I wash my hair!

spidookly · 20/05/2011 10:25

allsquare - she really gets around, doesn't she?

She made a real effort for me this latest visit and followed me all the way to America.

Really, it's more stalking than visiting :o

stillfrazzled · 20/05/2011 10:28

I had the Hair Fairy. Didn't bloody want her because I have absurd amounts of hair to start with and with the extra, was virtually sporting a beehive without so much as a whiff of hairspray.

The Amazing Skin Fairy, OTOH, passed me by unless she was the cow responsible for the amazing number of spots I broke out in...

HandMini · 20/05/2011 10:30

I got the skin fairy, not so much on the hair. Some people seem to get the lovely skin phase while breastfeeding, so don't give up hope yet.

DeWe · 20/05/2011 10:58

I think I got a lovely pregnancy glow for almost 24 hours on one of my pregnancies. The rest of the time I was being sick. Grin

IgnoringTheChildren · 20/05/2011 11:20

LillyTheMinx - I also had the flatulance goblin move in around month 5 of my last pregnancy (he didn't bother with my first for some reason). I've been trying but failing to evict him ever since (DS2 is now nearly 6 months!) Blush The piles pixie at least managed to keep her visits brief and relatively painfree.

I'm soooo relieved that I've managed to avoid the Dodgy Bladder Control Witch! Good luck with getting rid of her LordOfTheFlies.

aldiwhore · 20/05/2011 11:42

I never glowed, my hair (usually lovely) looked like a bird nest, I was out of my mat jeans at 20 weeks (polyhydramnious - pfft) and my skin WAS different, spotty, greasy, constantly flushed.

The pilespixie paid me a short visit, the flatulance goblin moved in permanently and refused to leave even after the birth, and I also was visited frequently by the sweat troll, the acne sprite and on a few occasions the tag team of brownies who created much bowel mischief.

YANBU to be annoyed, but YABU to think that the amazing skin fairy will visit, she's a notorious bitch.

maighdlin · 20/05/2011 11:43

the hair and skin fairy must of lost my address. she did sent her evil twin though.

Piles pixie was the other one not to visit me.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 20/05/2011 11:50

I never got the visit either Sad perhaps it was because I was in a country where women routinely cover their faces? Tis possible that they are all poster girls underneath.
I got the spew sprite though, she didn't leave until two days after DD was born.

LordOfTheFlies · 20/05/2011 13:24

With both my pregnancies I had no hair grow on my legs-hurrah- and I just thought it was because they were in complete shade.
Now I know they were regularly tended by the depilation devils. Now they've gone to pastures new ,I've got to use the hot wax to get ridWink

redexpat · 20/05/2011 14:01

I've had a visit from the hair fairy, and the acne sprite. I guess you win some lose some.
