It's a fairly normal time of day to call, imo. Why are you in your PJs at ?

TrinityIsAShreddingFatRhino · 19/05/2011 19:12

normal time to call I would say

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 19/05/2011 19:12

I'm in my jamas too tis not that abnormal

TrillianAstra · 19/05/2011 19:14

Seems like a normal time of day to phone - when would you prefer them to phone you?

TrillianAstra · 19/05/2011 19:14

And being in PJs doesn't stop you from answering or talking so I don't see why it's a problem.

Maybe not everyone eats dinner at the same time as you? In fact, I might choose to call at half 6 in order to get somebody before they are actually sitting down eating. If it's frequently the same person, can't you just ask them not to call now?

funnybumblebee · 19/05/2011 19:21

I'm in my PJs but no dinner yet, DH not back yet, baby asleep. Blissful! As for PJs, just had my bath, seems no point putting clothes on again!

HubbaHubbaBubba · 19/05/2011 19:28

Haha!! Yes, my and DH's family ALWAYS call us somewhere between half six and half seven at night. We have three DCs under the age of 4 (well, technically eldest one turned 4 this month) and so The Witching Hour is very much upon us at that time/Feeding Time At The Zoo/The Joys of Bathtime and Putting To Bed-Time = NOT a good time to catch us for anything other than a plea for help!! :o

Doesn't seem to deter them! Hmm :o

aldiwhore · 19/05/2011 19:30

Because its the time when most people are home from work, before the 'shhhh' of kiddies in bed and before people have chilled out so much they don't answer.

People always seem to call me at 10.30, I ignore them.

HubbaHubbaBubba · 19/05/2011 19:30

pmsl - sis JUST phoned as I finished typing that!! :o

Paschaelina · 19/05/2011 19:31

I agree. 6-8pm is rubbish, baby to bed and dinner takes up this time. Before or after is fine.

OvO · 19/05/2011 19:32

Does the op not mean call around as in come to your house, not a phone call?

DontCallMePeanut · 19/05/2011 19:33

One of my BF's has the habit of phoning at 19:02. Which is when I'm trying to put DS to bed. Everytime, without fail Hmm

OvO · 19/05/2011 19:36

I get annoyed if anyone calls (in person or by phone) between 6pm and 8pm. It's either a busy time or a time to sit and relax with my DC and I hate it being interrupted.

Fine if it's important but if it's just for a chat then before 6 or after 8 is much preferrable.

moonstorm · 19/05/2011 19:38

Thank goodness more people are in their pyjamas at this time! Children in bed, I just want to collapse and slob for a little while (get second wind later in the evening to do stuff).

I keep clothes by the front door to put on if people knock...

OvO · 19/05/2011 19:40

I'm not just in pyjamas, I'm in BED. Grin

I've made a nice big nest with 2 duvets and 6 pillows and I'm snuggled up with my iPad.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 19/05/2011 19:46

I am in my nightdress, have just had a bath.
Now making myself something to eat.

Then I will go to bed. I expect to be in bed before 9pm!!

DS went to bed at 6:45pm as he was very tired, bless him! And DH is off visiting a friend and won't be back to late.

Deesus · 19/05/2011 19:50

If i've not got anything planned for the evening I'm in my pj's (or 'house clothes' Smile) as soon as i get in from work.

Don't really mind when people call round. If I'm not in the mood for company I just don't answer the door! Though I'm pretty lucky that my living room is at the back of the house so no elaborate hiding required...Wink

DuffyMoon · 19/05/2011 19:56

phoning during the Archers Shock

onlion · 19/05/2011 20:01

Call = visit (sorry)

I meant call in.

OP posts:
FoundWanting · 19/05/2011 20:02

My mum will often phone at 2.45pm just as I need to do the school run.

Strangely, I remember her ranting about her own mother doing exactly the same thing to her. Grin

HubbaHubbaBubba · 19/05/2011 20:15

ooh, calling round in person ?!!

Now that's something door-to-door salesmen do at that time. I like to take baby under one arm, children follow along shouting "is it daddy? is it daddy?" and waving a dirty nappy bag or some such. They don't tend to stay for long! :o
