We go to Disneyland on 31st May and just realised that 2 of my children's passports have expired.
I now have an appointment at Newport - 2 hour drive and a cost of £110.00 EACH on Tuesday.
I have to sit and wait for 4 hours - so what is there to do in Newport for 4 hours?

Not much! But if you have 4 hours you can go to Caerleon or Cardiff

Seriously though, why do you have 4 hours? I had to do DSs at short notice and I went in for my "appointment", gave them the forms and left about 10 mins later?

I have to give them the forms and then go back 4 hours later to collect them

I think they tell you 4 hours just to be on the safe side.

Are you taking dc with you?

If you are I'd take them into cardiff to the castle or techniquest.

Not much doing in newport.

I think mumatron is right :)
If they do tell you to go back in an hour rather than four, go left and up the street and starbucks is about 30seconds walk away. However, not much else!

nope, no parking there but there is parking close. if you park at cambrian car park or the NCP though, theyre easy to find cause theyre opposite the train station and only about 2 mins walk to the passport office :)
take a book and do a little pub crawl? Grin most of the pubs are still open

I was about to say something rude about Newport but then allsquare said she lives there. I was born there - even as a baby I was bored! You could check out Tintern, which isn't that far away. I think there is a museum in Newport? Allsquare?

My mother took me to a get a drink in Newport and I asked for some tea.

'What kind of tea do you do?' I said.

Girl chewing gum, with valley accent.

'We got teabags. Tha's all.'

If you've no dc with you lucky thing then I'd just go for a wander round the shops, take a good book and get a coffee.

Or take a drive down to cardiff yourself.

I had to get 3 passports last minute once, I'm sure I was in and out within about half hour.

good luck looking round the shops, they've all gone!

mumatron · 18/05/2011 20:36

Have they really? I haven't been to newport for ages.

Get yourself into cardiff then.

We've got loads!
