to tell my electricity provider

to do their own load reading. they want me to take a reading in the morning and a reading in the evening to make sure i am being billed the day rate in the day time and the night rate in the night time. now how is it in my best interest to do that if they have been billing me wrong then they have for a long time. also when i asked them to come fix my electricity box they said it wasnt their responsibility so my meter is just hanging out exposed to the elements. she said i couldnt expect the meter reader to wait for me to use a unit of electricity, i said i couldnt but they could. i then said i would only do it if they fixed my box. she said she would look in to it. i said i dont see why i should be particularly helpful when they havent been.
feel a little bit childish now but it got my goat.

Depends if they have been overcharging or undercharging you.

Agree - could be well in your interest!

Pants that they won't fix your box though - is there not a service number on the side? Vaguely aware that boxes not necessarily owned by the leccy provider but a service company.

Yabu

They don't own your meter box, it's the home owner's responsibility to fix it if it breaks. Try your local distribution company.

Is it really so difficult to get two meter readings? They could send someone out to you but that would require booking an appointment. Instead Let's scold the call center worker for trying to resolve your query quickly with a miniscule amount of help from you.

Your supplier has a responsibilty to bill you as accurately as possible, but you have a responsibilty to make it as easy as possible for them to do so imo.

Should of read that last bit before posting, it sounds crap. [Blush]

should have said had this problem with them four times have done this for them four times. every time its been fine they just think i am not being charged enough, and to be honest i dont really want them to decide i have been an end up back dated with a massive bill to pay. i also took a reading for the a week ago when they upped my direct debit substantially they had made an error yet again and i am just a bit fed up with it all. i wasnt rude to the woman, they keep saying that they think i am being billed for the night during the day and visa versa.
its also not my query they called me out of the blue i am not trying to pay them more money.

but your are right it was churlish of me so when she phones back i will be polite and agree and hope that all this fishing does not produce their desired result.
