I don't have an answer for you but am on a similar position, I have an annual bonus of 25% of my salary that I won't get this year.

DoesAnyone know, will I get holiday pay accrued whilst on maternity? If I choose not to return to work will I have my holiday paid?

Hammy02 · 17/05/2011 08:33

Has your friend had any time off work for maternity too?

Iggly · 17/05/2011 08:42

Holiday pay is accrued while you're on mat leave.

Bonuses/performance related increases - we're only entitled if we've been working for at least three months of the appraisal year otherwise nothing. Same applies to people on career break or those who joined part way in the year.

Iggly · 17/05/2011 08:44

You'll only get the holiday pay in proportion to how much of the annual leave you were still employed - and even then it depends on company policy. Ours pays a max of 9 days.

Hammy02 · 17/05/2011 08:44

I can't believe you expected the same treatment WRT performance related pay as someone who didn't take time out from work?!

chandellina · 17/05/2011 08:46

i accrued holiday time for all of my time off work (11 months), so nearly a full year's holiday.

ScarletOHaHa · 17/05/2011 08:58

I took 6 months maternity leave and was given a notional acceptable rating based on my previous performance. My normal performance was always rated much higher however this allowed me to maintain my place on the pay scale. I believe I should have been given my average rating from previous years even though I was on maternity leave. I accrued annual leave too.

magicmelons · 17/05/2011 09:43

I thought they took 3 consecutive months earning and averaged it out then paid you that for mat leave, i'm pretty sure that's what happened for me Confused

oh and you accrue holidays so can piggyback them to mat leave if you want.

AppleAndBlackberry · 17/05/2011 09:51

I got a bonus in the year I was on ml, but I believe this was because it was somewhat based on the company's performance, if it's solely based on yours then I don't think they have to give it to you.

Takeresponsibility · 17/05/2011 10:10

It depends on your contract. In my job you acrue your full entitlement to holiday pay whilst on maternity leave but the criteria for getting a performance related bonus are that FOR THE SPECIFIC REPORTING YEAR
You are in the top 35% of the workforce
You have "significantly exceeded" at least 50% of yout objectives - with examples
There are no onjectives "not met".

If you worked for me and you had not met those criteria I would not propose you for a bonus

ccpccp · 17/05/2011 11:44

If a company is handing out bonusses based on personal performance then they could prorate it for the number of days you were in the office that year. However if you didnt hit your targets then you didnt hit your targets. Pregnancy was your choice.

Though if you had a target of 'take half the year off with pregnancy' that might work. Did you have that target? Wink
