to think balsam tissues

are nasty? Feels like someone's already used them slightly and they are a little bit damp! If I'm going to wipe my nose I like to do it using a dry tissue

YABU - they are the bees knees if you have got a streaming cold!

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2011 07:46

but they feel slightly damp - i'd rather have a sore nose than wipe it on a damp tissue

Never try wipe your glasses with them. That's my advice to y'all for the day.

HeidiKat · 14/05/2011 19:56

Been there Tee, I will not be buying those again in a hurry, bloody glasses were smeary for ages.

Lindax · 14/05/2011 19:58

balsam tissues are fab, I have a huge and sensitive nose, any other tissue and I am left with a very dry and sore nose for ages after my cold has gone.

Hardhatonamission · 14/05/2011 20:00

I love balsam tissues but not the price of them

BingRugmole · 14/05/2011 20:00

Just smear Vaseline on regular tissues. Much cheaper.

Meglet · 14/05/2011 20:01

yabu. I never get a sore nose these days.

Best thing since sliced bread IMO.

thenightsky · 14/05/2011 20:01

YABU

With streaming hayfever they are the only ones that don't feel sandpaper against my nose.

NettoSuperstar · 14/05/2011 20:04

Yeah, don't take them in your bag in case a horrid public loo has no loo roll is all I say Sad

BitOfFun · 14/05/2011 20:07

Good point, Netto. But they are fab for colds. Anything else shreds the skin on your nose.

You're better off with a normal tissue and a smear of Vaseline.
Cheaper, and then no sore balsam/fanjo ouchy mistakes can be made.

StealthPolarBear · 14/05/2011 21:28

I'd rather have a dry nose than wipe on something that feels damp! As for smearing vaseline around...urgh

The best thing about them is that if you leave them in a pocket they don't shred in the washing machine and leave you with tissue confetti over everything.

geraldinetheluckygoat · 14/05/2011 21:41

why? is balsam+fanjo a disaster then?

create · 14/05/2011 21:44

They are great for colds, but you do need ordinary ones for everything else, as others have said.

HArdhatonamission - Lidl do pocket packs of their own brand ones for pennies. Slightly less "damp" than kleenex (good thing?) but just as soft and lovely on your poor nose.

BitOfFun · 14/05/2011 21:44

It certainly refreshes the parts other tissues wouldn't reach, Geraldine.

MoldovanHardHatporn · 14/05/2011 21:45

create I will go exploring then! Thanks for the heads up :)

FudgeGirl · 14/05/2011 21:45

I love them, as has already been said - the only thing for stopping you getting a really dry and scaly nose after a cold :)

I've never really detected anything about them that seems damp or fanjo-burning, to be honest.

SugarSkyHigh · 14/05/2011 21:45

I hate them!!!! i had a really appalling cold a couple of years ago and my MIL gave me some balsam tissues - i can honestly say they made my nose really hurt. I would never ever buy them.

Jaspants · 14/05/2011 21:45

Ouch Netto

EmmaBemma · 14/05/2011 21:48

ha! I couldn't work out what Netto meant for ages until the explanation. Owee.

IgnoringTheChildren · 14/05/2011 21:51

YABA! They are the best thing ever when you have a cold - I hate having a sore, red, flakey nose! However I don't use them when I don't have a cold or wipe anything other than my nose with them...Confused
