To be angry and offended by husband's neice...

We're currently living in France and dh has paid for two neices to come over for a short visit as their 21st birthday presents. Been organised for a few months. Now dd1 has worms, poor mite, which is being treated and should be no problem but one of the neices says she doesn't think she can come as she sometimes works part time in tesco and it wouldn't be safe! I'm fuming, but AIBU? She has already checked in online so we can't cancel the flight, change the name on the ticket etc etc. I'm raging. It's only worms... totally treatable etc Grrrrrrrrrrr

Why did you tell her dd1 had worms?

Pancakeflipper · 13/05/2011 21:54

Tell niece you will provide her with the medication on the off chance she gets them. Is she nit picking for an excuse to not visit?

BimboNo5 · 13/05/2011 21:55

Ask her to refund the flight if shes not coming.

I suspect looking for an excuse too... the worms thing just came up as she asked if we wanted anything bringing over... we suggested a couple of packs of worm tablets from Tesco - seeing as she works there - as we've just dicovered they are 10% of the price than over here and we wanted some in the cupboard just in case! Wish we hadn't bothered!

I wouldn't have said anything, a dose of medicine cures worms.

Icelollycraving · 13/05/2011 22:04

Perhaps she didn't want to come? Why on earth would you tell her if yr dc has been treated?

hiddenhome · 13/05/2011 22:06

I'd have thought the worms would be quite at home in Tesco Grin Have you seen their fruit 'n' veg lately? Shocking!

ashamedandconfused · 13/05/2011 22:08

she is being daft, she is just as likely to pick up worm eggs from a trolley in tesco TBH, or from handling coins, touching door handles - and good hand hygine would prevent her getting them anyway

how old is she and does she realise how rife worms are in the population at large, and that they are not life threatening?

TragicallyHip · 13/05/2011 22:09

How has she checked in already, when is her flight?

squeakytoy · 13/05/2011 22:09

She sounds like a very dim little drama queen.

irishqueen · 13/05/2011 23:03

what squeaky said

fit2drop · 13/05/2011 23:30

I thought worm treatment was a one off tablet ...your DD would be well over any treatment by the time your neice arrives.

Snitty is what she is, I reckon if you bill her for the flight price she may still come
and when she does......... tell her you all have nits now Grin
